I believe mine are saying:

Adcom #1: "Good undergrad GPA, good grad GPA...Wait, isn't she applying for a Masters not a PhD?"

Adcom #2: "Yes, but it says here she'd like to get a PhD as well."

Adcom #3: "Wait, doesn't she have three bachelor's degrees in addition to the other masters?"

Adcom #2: "Yes, she currently has four degrees. She's applying for the Masters but then plans on continuing on to the PhD."

Adcom #1: "So, she'd end up with...6 degrees then?"

Adcom #3: "What, does she want to wallpaper her house with diplomas or something?!"

*Pause, all three thinking the exact same thing*

Adcom #1: "Dudes, I so do not feel like being number 5, and possibly 6."

Adcom #2: "Yep, academic slut!"

Adcom #3: "Yes! Another REJECT! Those are so much fun!"

*All three laugh menacingly.*

My best friend and I created a language when we were in high school...sort of. We just made up words and came up with there meanings (we had WAY too much time on our hands). Zjwah, we decided, represented a teeny, tiny month between April and May. It is very quick, lasting just a split second right before midnight on May 1. Our saying was: "April showers, Zjwah, May flowers." I promise we weren't high or drunk when we came up with this. We were just that awesome.

To add to my previous post for this thread....this just happened to me today:

I went to get the mail. There was only one thing in the box: a nice, big, white envelope.

Me: "Yes, I got in somewhere! Finally, some sort of notification. I wonder where?"

*Grabs letter greedily and almost gets hit by a car as I try to cross the street* (my mailbox is across the road from my house, I know weird)

*Stares down at envelope*

*Blinks*

"H& R Block..wha? What? This isn't an acceptance letter?! Damn it!"

*Storms back into house and rips the tax organizer into shreds*

To add to my previous post for this thread....this just happened to me today:

I'm afraid of spiders as well. This is a fear I consider quite normal. However, I am also terrified of those pressurized cans cinnamon rolls, biscuits, crescent rolls, etc come in. I refuse to open them myself, and I have to leave the room when someone else opens them or I will scream and almost jump out of my skin once they "pop" open. I am not, though, afraid of balloons popping.

Everything is in as of yesterday. Now the doubts and nutty thoughts have arisen.

"Shit, I should reread my personal statements again and again to make sure I didn't make a stupid mistake!"

"Maybe I need to check my email again....10 minutes later?" --> This is urged on with periodic rushes of hope as I have my email situated in a desktop toolbar on my mac. Everything the a new email appears I get a peaceful....ping.

"I should really do something productive...screw it you worked your ass off since August."

"READ something other than a scholarly article."

"Call a friend...naw they don't want to hear me fret about this stuff."

"Man, I should really have addressed my statement of purpose to more people at that school."

"Now seems like a good time to day dream about where I want to end up and consequently research rents, cool things to do, good restaurants. Shoot, maybe that is a terrible idea since I might not get in."
