I applied to Montclair last year and they said they only send decisions via postal mail, just so you know! Hopefully your letter comes soon though!
-
That is exciting! My application is still under review.

Congratulations to you two! Crossing my fingers for some news soon!

I am constantly checking back and forth from this forum, the results page, and my e-mail. It's a continuous loop until something changes or until I need to nanny/go to class. It's driving me insane! I am trying to do other things to keep grad decisions off my mind, but anything I do somehow reminds me of waiting for decisions. -

Same here! I really thought I would hear from all of my schools by this week. Feeling pretty stressed! -
I think if it's the only class you need to take, you will still have a relaxing summer! I took Aural Rehab for half a semester the semester I did student teaching along with another course that was only for half a semester. The second half of the semester is when we did our student teaching placement, so those two classes were designed so that we could complete the requires credits. I remember how pleasing it was to only be taking two classes - I had so much free time and did really well in both of those classes because it was really the only thing I needed to focus on. It would probably be nice to get it out of the way!

Awww, I completely relate! My dad is having a hard time too. He's literally just sad for me, and feels so badly that I've been getting so many rejections. I'm super appreciative that he is not disappointed in me (which I know he never would be), but just feels for what I'm going through. We will be able to make ourselves happy and share great news with them soon though, I can feel it! -
Woo!! That's amazing, congratulations!

It's possible they mail their decisions! When I applied to Montclair last year, they updated when a decision was made on the website, but said that they only send decisions via postal mail. I know it's a different school, but maybe they also follow that protocol. Good luck! -
I took an online prep course in September, which I think helped SO much. It was a live class with a teacher, and there were people from all over the US in the online classroom. If you had to miss a live session, there were recorded sessions you could watch or you could just watch them for supplemental studying. It was a little expensive, but I think it was worth it (I spent way more on grad applications this year ). The teacher was amazing and really encouraging. She would even send out e-mails to make sure you were doing homework and studying, if you wanted to be held accountable (if not - she wouldn't send it, you had to ask). She suggested doing the "Pomodoro Study Technique" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique) which I now use for other things, which is super helpful! She sent me a study schedule for the GRE and if you would like, I can PM it to you! Wishing you the best of luck!

Supplies for SLP Graduate School

OMG thank you for sharing! I'm always in the market for a good planner. Last year I got my planner from maydesigns.com, and I loved the look to it (it's canvas and has lots of cute patterns) but I need something much bigger. -
SweetPea21, congratulations on your decision and other acceptances! I was just wondering - did you withdraw your applications to other programs because you made a decision, or are you waiting to hear back first?
-
Ahhh I'm sorry to hear that, but thank you for sharing. Did they e-mail you that your portal had been updated, or did you just check randomly?
-
Congratulations! If it were me in your position, I would pick Hunter College. But It's mostly because I did my undergrad in Western NY and just can't see myself in that region for another 2 years - although I miss Wegman's SO MUCH. Haha there are a lot of different things to consider - but maybe don't put Wegman's on that list Good luck making a decision!

COchoa, good luck! That would drive me crazy. Luckily you have all of the information so hopefully they do the right thing and give you a chance! Every e-mail I get that is NOT from a graduate school is driving me crazy. I was really hoping I would know all of my acceptances and rejections by this time. My birthday is on Saturday, and I can't help but be nervous for what news I'll be getting on that day! Hopefully good news!! -
Crazy Grad School Dreams/Nightmares

Last night I dreamt I got a huge packet in the mail from Ithaca College (didn't even apply there) and my dad said "Look! Your first acceptance - finally!" and I said "We don't know that yet." When I opened it, it was my application printed out with a huge circle over something I missed that I needed to fix, with a packet about their program. I THINK I had this dream because I got a huge packet in the mail from University at Buffalo the day before, which was oddly addressed to my first name with just my last name initial about transferring to their undergraduate program...it said "thank you for your interest" - which I didn't do, since I graduated with my bachelor's 2 years ago! So strange haha. -
Thanks for sharing!

Hey Danielle! I'm in a similar situation as you. 7 rejections and 3 waitlists (although I know that western Illinois did not accept me - not sure if it's a waitlist or rejection yet, but I'm pretty sure it's a rejection). This is definitely a difficult time, and I've been trying to think what my next plan of action is if I don't get taken off the waitlist. Is this your first year applying? This is my second year, and I am going to try again for spring and fall next year if I don't get in anywhere. But not having a job that allows me to survive on my own is not easy, and realistically I need to think about supporting myself! Just wanted to let you know that I'm feeling the same way, so we'll have to hang in there together! ---Wow 2 minutes after I posted this I got an e-mail from Western Illinois putting me on the waitlist! -
The GRE is so strange like that! I have plenty of friends that are in your boat, too. I took an online prep-course, and what I learned is that the GRE doesn't entirely base it's score on how well you write, but how the prompt is answered. There are certain things that need to be addressed in a particular way in order to get more credit for the points. I improved an entire point on my writing score after taking the prep course, though, so they may be on to something! And also, it's a pretty subjective grading system when you think about it! The same person doesn't read every essay, so it's really hard to get a good grasp on what the score really means. Good luck to you!

I have a warm cup of tea and season one of Game of Thrones... partially because I'm not feeling well, but mostly because I need to get my mind off application decisions! Do you have any nice distractions this evening? -
Thank you! Good luck to you as well!
-
I'm pretty sure (but I could be wrong) that you can still apply for spring! The reason I say that is because on their website they mention that out-of-field students are not put into a separate program; the out-of-field and COMD students work together. So I would think that means you can also apply for spring! As long as the classes you need are offered. Or, you could take the pre-req classes at UTD as a non-matriculated student in the fall and apply for spring. I would double check, but that is just my guess

Sayjo, thank you for sharing your story. It's easy to get wrapped up in our own issues, and it's enlightening to hear another perspective. I'm ready to hop on a plane and start grad school anywhere in the US ( I just need to get accepted first! ), but it's important to remember that not everyone has that freedom. Good luck to you and your family! -
That's amazing to hear, congratulations!!! Hearing that gives me hope. If I don't get accepted for this cycle, I will certainly try again for spring.
