  1. Ok, I'm finally posting. Like many others have mentioned, I am also a long-time lurker. With many notifications already out, I thought I would finally chime in.

The past couple weeks waiting for Fulbright has been awful. Before that, I was studying for and then taking my PhD comps, but now that's over and I have nothing else to do but let my mind be consumed with Fulbright notification. This forum has been great to know I'm not alone and yet still hard to see all the joy at acceptances and sadness at the rejections. I just want to know where I stand!

I was really hoping to be notified by now. I am also working in a job that I am not very happy at, so getting the Fulbright would be great in this capacity. My supervisor knows I am waiting to hear as well, so it's awful every time they ask me. I know they will need to find a replacement for me too, so it's just like everyone is waiting with me which makes it that much harder.

Fingers crossed we will hear more this week! Congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted and stay positive those of you who are alternates or received rejections. As an older student, I can safely say that new opportunities in life will come your way, even if you don't expect them or they weren't what you thought. Keep putting yourself out there.

Those who are still agonizing in waiting, know you have one more standing in solidarity with you!

Welcome! And I completely agree with you that the past few weeks have been the most painful! The waiting isn't getting any easier.

To which country did you apply?

  2. Azerbaijan. Did you apply for an ETA or research? I'm kinda assuming we've got about a month before we hear anything still.

I applied for research.  I agree with you, I was hoping that we would miraculously hear back this month but at this point I think we shouldn't expect anything until at least the middle of April.  Best of luck to you!

  3. Is there anyone out there waiting for Eurasia? (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine) Do y'all know whether any of those do interviews?

Hi there! I am a Moldova applicant.  As far as I know, Eurasia generally does not conduct interviews (with the exception of Russia, which ALWAYS interviews), but I know more and more countries are choosing to interview each year.  I have yet to hear that an applicant was asked to interview for Eurasia this application season. To which Eurasian country did you apply?

  4. RRachel1, yes I was just emailed this morning! I suppose that it is pretty late in the game compared to most countries, but Montenegro usually notifies in late April. I didn't expect to hear anything at all until then, so-- while the email was surprising-- it's nice to know that someone is actually looking at my application!

Wow! At least you won't have to stress over whether you'll be notified early! Yeah, Moldova usually notifies in mid-late April also. I've been hoping for an early notification, but I don't think that it is in the cards.

  5. Has anyone applying for the Balkans (Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, etc) been contacted about an interview? I was under the impression that those countries usually didn't interview, but the embassy just emailed me.

I did not apply for the Balkans, so I'm sorry that I can't answer your question. But, I was wondering if you were just emailed in order to schedule an interview?? That seems so late!!

  6. I think the anxiety from this wait has knocked like five years off of my life.

Agreed! I can't believe we didn't get any notifications yesterday... I was thinking that they must have been working on notifying the UK for today or later this week (since there are so many applicants).

    The silence is killing me.

  7. If you have applied to a country that doesn't have a Fulbright Commission does any one know who is reviews the recommended applications ?

The country that I applied to does not have a Fulbright commission and the applications are reviewed by the public affairs section of the country's US Embassy. But I'm not sure if other countries without commissions do the same.
  8. Got notification of Principal status for research grant to Costa Rica a couple hours ago! I am unbelievably excited!

Congratulations to everyone else hearing back today — successful or otherwise! If you made it this far, it says incredible things about you!

(Sorry for the !!!!!!! overload. Good luck everyone.)

    Great news!! Congrats!

  9. If I knew any of you lived near me, I would definitely suggest an "anxiously-waiting meetup" to go have a drink and good food and talk about our projects. The rule: you can't refresh your email...AT ALL. (But only because it would be after 5 pm and, come on, someone has to force us not to be ridiculous, right?)

That would just be lovely! I feel like no one else understands us, haha.

  10. Ha, funny timing--I got it! Accepted as an ETA :)

Turkey ETA notifications have been sent out!  Guess I'm living abroad next year!

    Got the Turkey ETA!!

    Congratulations! So exciting!

  11. Just got accepted to Germany. Research, full grant. emailed 03/18, rec'd 13:23 EDT - I'm sort of on top of the world right now!

I also was just accepted to Germany at 13:22. I'm so relieved that I'm shaking. Good luck everyone.

This is so fantastic!! Congratulations Germany Fulbrighters!!

  12. First post ever! I got the email about an hour ago that I was accepted to the Fulbright ETA in the Slovak Republic!

Good luck to everyone still waiting.

    Congratulations!! Hooray for more notifications!
  13. From the link nsnotable posted the Fulbright site states:

"The Fulbright Self-Service Portal will be available to selected candidates starting Friday, March 20, 2015."

That must mean there will be a lot of notifications going out this week.... Right?

I was just checking out our "Copy of Notification Dates" spreadsheet linked to our 2015-2016 spreadsheet and according to last year's notification dates, it seems that starting this week and continuing for the next three weeks, 5-7 countries will be notified every week.  So we should have a lot more news over the next four days!

  14. Hi Raco! What country are you applying for? I'd be happy to give you the dates from the website I was linked to in my acceptance email. There's just a range of different ones depending on what region/country you applied for. :)

Hi Nsnotable, does the link in your acceptance email include the orientation dates for all regions and countries? It might be helpful to some of us other applicants to know what the orientation date might be if we are accepted.  Does your link include the orientation dates for Eurasia by any chance? :-) Thanks!

  15. I just found out that I was named as a Principle candidate to do public health research in Japan! My notification status was in the email heading (P). I'm so excited I can hardly type!!! :)

    Hooray!! Congratulations!!
