  1. I'd like to know too; this one doesn't seem to be very active.
  2. I think that career opportunities will ultimately be greater and more fulfilling in NYC.
  3. I'll be coming from Ohio.
  4. I am also quite interested in this question. Have you been offered any work-study positions? Work-study is really nice, because as the name implies, if there's not a lot to do, you're allowed to do homework, read, etc. while still getting paid. However, I might be interested in an additional part time job, so I'm wondering if work-study plus a part time job is in any way feasible with typical msw programs.
  5. I am confident that both the IBR and PSLF programs will help forgive the debt I accrue in grad school. If I didn't have confidence in them, I do not know how I would pay and would be quite anxious about pursuing a M.S.W.. I hope that these programs remain sustainable in the future, but we all just have to hope for the best and adapt to the changes if we need to. We'll all find a way.
  6. Have you considered deferring for a year so that you have another opportunity to apply for funding and/or work to save up some money?
  7. Contacted the Silver School this morning about what I thought was a glitch; apparently around 100 people didn't get their acceptance emails back in March, so they re-sent a lot of them late Friday night.
  8. No, as a matter of fact, they re-sent me the acceptance email late Friday night. I'll be calling them on Monday to make sure things are ok.
  9. I just accepted the offer to attend NYU! Very excited.
  10. Hopefully that'll be for the Silver School too!
  11. I'll be at Silver, but no word on fin. aid either.
  12. Have you looked into the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program? If you work for a government/non-profit for 10 years and make payments each month during those 10 years, your government-based loans are forgiven.
  13. I've tried asking a school to add a bit more, without success.
  14. I'm very conflicted on which school to choose to attend. I have applied and been accepted to NYU and Case Western for the fall. My specialization at Case would be Direct Practice with Children, Youth, and Families. My specialization at NYU would be Clinical with Children and Families. Case Western has recently offered me more scholarship money, in addition to what they initially offered, however I am also very attracted to NYU. I have tried asking if they'd consider matching Case Western's offer, but they said no. Any thoughts on how to negotiate more with nyu? I'm just typing out my thoughts, but opinions would be appreciated. Is it worth it to turn down such a substantial scholarship (it would cover 25% of total expenses over the two-year program) for a school that offered a lot less money in a much more expensive city, but has research opportunities and more professional opportunities overall that I'm more interested in?
  15. Mine was the same way.
