  1. Hey, there is a group created for the 1 year HBSW Thunder Bay Campus. Just type in HBSW T.B. on Facebook.
  2. This year for the UofT 2yr program the odds of getting accepted were even less. My rejection letter noted that they had more than 800 applicants for only 140 spots. That's less than a 17.5% chance of getting in. But it's important to consider that getting into the BSW programs are not easy either. For the Lakehead 1 year BSW there were 500 applicants and 85 spots. That's only a 17% chance of getting in similar to the UofT 2yr program. So I guess apply to a few different programs to increase your chances of getting in somewhere but then of course that gets expensive...
  3. Thank you for the advice, that is very helpful! I was wondering about that as well. So having a BSW will give me better odds of getting into a MSW program. Also, with a BSW I will be more qualified for jobs within the field, as I am having trouble getting hired with just a BSc.
  4. Just got mail from UofT with a rejection letter to the 2 year MSW. It's definitely sad to read, there was a lot of effort put just applying and getting reference letters etc. Apparently over 800 applicants so I guess I'm not alone... Today I also received the big brown envelope from the lakehead BSW but very undecided on that as it means moving away and way more expensive.
  5. Thanks Supu and DreamingMSW for the Info and updates! I was also wondering whether UofT gives out conditional acceptances? I guess people who got accepted for the 2 year will only know when their offer comes in the mail...
  6. Almost everyone who got accepted to the MSW 2yr got their ROSI accounts updated yesterday. It seems like there have been no new acceptances today. Please post if any new invites! I wonder how many 2yr spots the program has every year...
  7. Hey, thanks for starting this group but wasn't able to find it and the link didn't work
  8. Congratulations to all who got accepted! All the hard work has certainly paid off! Haven't seen any change on my Rosi account, I hope there are more acceptances this week or next...
  9. For those who have completed a 1 year post bachelors BSW, how did you find your program? Was it very intense with placements and course work or was it manageable?
  10. Thanks for the Info! And Congratulations on getting into the MSW program
  11. I'm a current UofT undergrad and yeah all students have a ROSI account that's what you use to sign up for courses, look at your transcript etc. I have applied to the 2 year MSW program. And nothing has appeared on my ROSI account. I think we have at least 1 week more if not 2-3 weeks until offers for the 2 year come in.
  12. @dannika_star thanks for the Info on Thunder Bay. I just got into the HBSW program at Thunder Bay too I live in Toronto though, so i am concerned about the move and extra costs! The $13,000 in tuition fees seems like a lot. Are you counting in tuition + books + rent ? lol Would you know how much they ask to put down as a deposit to hold your spot? Any advice/tips would be great!
  13. Hey everyone! congratulations to all who received acceptances already! I applied to Lakehead 1 year HBSW but i know acceptance won't be out until Mid-April as that's what they told us via email... I also applied to the UofT 2 yr MSW and their website says most acceptances come out in March. Anyone got a 2 year MSW from UofT yet? My application still says "Under Review" Excited but nervous
  14. Thanks for the feedback! I was watching the news yesterday about graduates with Masters degrees having trouble with finding work and it got me worried. But realistically i have to specialize in a field of work and put my self out there. 80% of graduates finding full time work is not a bad statistic, and I think Uoft MSW has similar stats.
  15. Hey everyone! Wanted to know what job prospects are available for MSW holders. From what i have seen on charity village there are some postings but most require many years of experience and some don't state a preference for MSW (vs BSW). I am just worried about opportunities for full time work within the field of social work that pays decent. I realized doing a generic degree in science has not given me much opportunity career wise, so I want to choose a field of work that has good job prospects. If anyone is currently attending a MSW program or knows someone who has graduated, please give some advice.. Also, I have Applied to UofT MSW (2year) and Lakehead HBSW (1year). So just waiting it out for now
