  1. Hi everyone! I’m looking for information for how the program was ran this last year with the pandemic. Does anyone know if it was completely online? I’m curious if I were to get in if I would be able to keep my full time job.
  2. Thank you! It says Orillia there, but I emailed Madge back to just to confirm!
  3. I got an email from Madge saying I have been waitlisted at the Thunder Bay campus, but I am a little confused as I only applied for the Orillia program. I was under the impression I could not be considered for the waitlist at Thunder Bay if I did not apply there.
  4. Madge from Lakehead got back to me today! She said that all Spring/Summer courses had to put online so professors are currently reformatting their courses. She said that admission decisions will be out "in the next day or two." I am curious to see how they reformat the course as I know most people move to Orillia for 6 months and then do their placements in their home town. I wonder if the entire length program will be moved online as it would be difficult to justify moving to a new place for only a couple of months. Classes are also Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4:30, so I don't know if it will be completely converted to zoom lectures or more of an at your own pace style as an 8 hour lecture is quite long online. Lakehead is the only school I applied to and I decided a few months ago that I would not attend if I got accepted, however now with the online format I may reconsider.
  5. I haven't heard either! I emailed Madge a month ago and she said she would send all applicants updates when they happen, but I have recieved nothing. I'm hoping we hear something soon. Do you think the program's start date will be pushed back or put online if the pandemic continues into the summer?
  6. Hi everyone, I followed the 2018 forum for a while and I am super anxious to start applying this year! I am currently in my fourth year at Western doing an Honours Specialization in Anthropology with a minor in Thanatology (the study of grief and bereavement). I'm applying to Lakehead's HBSW (both campuses), Western/King's 2 year MSW, and Laurier's 2 year MSW. My marks aren't anything spectacular, and I only decided in my third year that this was the path for me so I have been trying to build up relevant experience in a short period of time. I have been working in residence life for three years so I have a lot of experience with students with thoughts of suicide, sexual assault survivors, and a variety of mental illnesses. This year I am staring a new volunteer position at a sexual assault centre as a crisis line responder. I feel like I am not doing enough, so if I am able to balance my job, volunteer position, and course load, I may also volunteer at Kids Help Phone! I am really learning towards Lakehead Thunder Bay campus, because I feel like I can really bring myself up with the personal statement exam. Does anyone know anyone who was accepted into this program? I'm just really scared because I see that some of you have a really high gpa with 6000 hours of experience!
  7. Hi everyone, this is my first time using this forum, and I was looking for someone to answer some questions about Lakehead’s one year hbsw or King’s 2 year msw. I’m starting my applications in September and I’m afraid that my average is dragging me down. I have relevant work and volunteer experience, but my average will be high 70s or low 80s when I submit my application. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it!
  8. Hello, This is my first time posting on here and am not too sure how this works. I was looking for any information regarding Lakehead’s one year HBSW. I will be applying fall 2018 and just want to be prepared and well informed. I am curious about the entrance average. I’m hoping to bump up my average in my fourth year of university as right now my third year average is not very strong. Many information is appreciated
