Health Nut

Has anyone else applied to UC Irvine? I cannot believe there's only one person who has heard back (according to the Results Search). Such BS that they haven't sent out any decisions yet! How are we supposed to make our own decisions in the next week without knowing our options?! Le sigh.

The department at the university I plan to attend has invited me to a Preview Day - with a week's advance notice! I will be doing a PhD there, and plan to accept but am still waiting to hear from one final school. It's a small department, and I have been told there are plenty of assistantships to go around, but there is one professor in particular I hope to work with. I emailed her about a week ago to make a connection but haven't heard back, though I have heard she is quite approachable so I'm not too worried. My question is, how necessary is it that I go to the Preview Day? I live abroad, so it will be a considerable expense, but if it will be really helpful (or noticeable if I'm not there), then I will make it happen. It is a half-day event and is for all of the Masters and PhD programs within the department.

Has anyone heard from UC Irvine? I will probably go to UIC no matter what I hear, but it would be good to know my options!

Sorry I've just seen this! You were right - decisions started rolling in just after I posted. I have been accepted at UIC in the Health Policy & Administration PhD program, with assistantship etc - really exciting - so I'm almost definitely attending there. The others have been rejections, except for UC Irvine which has still not been in touch at all. I think I can assume that's a No. Good luck with your interview tomorrow! Is anyone else considering University of Illinois at Chicago?

This thread makes me nervous, as I've only received one decision so far! I had a rejection from Brown and an interview with UIC - still waiting to hear back from UIC, Yale, Johns Hopkins, and UC Irvine. No other interviews... should I be worried??
