  1. If you're worried about getting a Mac and not being able to run a program, you can always install Windows on the Mac if you're willing to shell out a few more dollars. My mac has gotten me through undergrad and I'm not too concerned about using it in grad school. Macs generally last a long time (going on 6 years!) and you won't have to worry about virus software. I would just decide what you're willing to spend. I like how easy macs are to use in comparison to PCs (and I've used PCs at work for 3+ years) so it's worth the price for me but it's not for everyone.
  2. You can also email potential programs and see what they say. I did that with a couple to see if they preferred 3 PHD professors or would accept an SLP too. I had some say they really wanted 3 professors because they focus on the academics. So send off a few emails and I'm sure they'll help out.
  3. You have some good experience so I feel like that should help. My GPA is about yours but I managed to get waitlisted at Purdue last year before I increased my GRE. So you never know. I was happy for at least a waitlist! I hope for an actual acceptance though this year haha.
  4. I haven't heard that it makes any difference to attend a low ranking school. Every school's stats I've seen say 100% job placement. Considering how tough it is to get into any program in this field just be willing to be flexible and apply to a variety of schools. I'm keeping my options as open as possible after getting 5 rejections last year.
  5. I'm applying this year as well. I think all three utah programs tend to be a little competitive. I know people who have been accepted to all three though. A lot of students here want to stay here so that makes it harder. The U is ranked the highest above usu and byu too but I think it's worth a shot. Just don't let it be the only school you apply to if you are flexible.
  6. Any suggestions for ways to narrow down the list of schools to apply to? I have a solid number of schools I'm pretty sure I want to apply to but I'd like to increase my odds of getting in as much as possible. I've already taken off a bunch in locations I don't want to be, but what else can I do besides researching a hundred programs? How many are you applying to? I did 5 last year but they were "reach" schools so I didn't have the best shot. Now I have higher GRE scores and more experience.
  7. Agreed. Adding classes was SUPER tedious. I was finishing it last minute last year and my parents were nice enough to help me out so I could work on essays. Otherwise once that's done then it's easy to upload essays for multiple schools. Definitely call them asap about the scores though!
  8. I noticed the same thing. People getting email notifications and acceptances. I found on their website under "After You Apply" the following statement: "When a final Graduate School decision has been made you will receive an email notice to inform you that your decision letter is available to view online. You can view the letter through the 'Check application status’ section of your Application Supplemental Form (ASF). An official copy will also be sent to the address listed on your Graduate application. If the program to which you have applied does not require you to complete an ASF then you will not be able to view your letter online. The following programs currently do not require the ASF: Non-Degree applications, MBA or MS applications offered by the Robert H. Smith School of Business, and selected applications for a master’s or certificate of professional studies." So I guess we'll probably get an email to check online as well as something in the mail.
