I got the fulbright s&t award and seems not to play a huge role.
I have 2 acceptances out of 6 - for the top schools I applied to being a fulbright definitely was not an argument in itself...
Still I'm really happy to have gotten it and I think this program has eased the application pain in many ways
This is interesting bit of news...
when I called them in feb, they said quite straight forward to me, that if you haven't heard from bbs by now then you are not accepted.

I have actually been to Cleavland, Ann Arbor, SF and Boston and have so so overview of the places. Unfortunately not New Haven... but as I come from a small place myself, I don't like living in huge places anyway... The criminality is of course troublesome (if it is really as bad as some say), but when it comes to free time, I'd rather get out of the town into the woods/mountains etc.

My phone interview with U of Mich, pibs was together with two professors. And the questions were only science based - mainly about my work done so far. Very shortly I had to also talk about what I expect from PhD studies. It lasted about an hour. Very intensive...
