  1. Sometimes schools stipulate that applicants should either GPA or GRE score above certain threshold (in my Master's program it was 3.0 or 1000 respectively). So, if your GPA is high, it may offset your low GRE.
  2. Since you already have a Master's degree, you may also consider getting a graduate certificate in public health or biostatistics, instead of earning a second Master's. It will take you less time to finish it (typically, about one year), and if you do good there, it will make your profile stronger. http://www.sph.unc.edu/globalhealth/certificate/ http://www.sph.uth.tmc.edu/cert/
  3. Hi! Your profile looks good, except for low grades, especially for your Master's degree. You may need to explain that in your application essay. Good luck!
  4. Hi, I am going to apply to doctoral programs in Biostatistics next year and would like to hear your opinion about my profile. I already have a Master's degree in Psychology from Illinois State University (with a lot of coursework in statistics/research methods). My Undergraduate GPA is around 3.80, Graduate GPA is around 3.50, GRE General Q=760, V=600. I do not have any publications, but I wrote a thesis based on original research and was working as a research/teaching assistant for 2 years. I currently do not have any relevant work experience, except for private statistics tutoring. Thanks!
  5. Hi, I did my Master's in Psychology at ISU and I think that MS in Actuarial Science is one of its strongest programs. Basically, the ISU college town is also the headquarters of State Farm. Another good thing is that it is relatively easy to get funded if your profile is strong.
