  1. I would like to know too!!
  2. Fulbright Italy finalist (research) here. Mine had P in the email subject.
  3. From the email, it looks like I received the traditional study/research grant...which means 9 months or more in Italy! Whoohoo!
  4. I just got the email! I won the full Fulbright Study/Research grant for Italy! I am so stoked! But on the other hand, my condolences for lyonessrampant and Italylove. I would have loved to meet fellow gradcafers.
  5. Argh, this is so annoying. I already had asked my institution to send in an electronic version of my official transcript to this address: fusptranscripts@fulbrightmail.org That email address came from the Resources website that we got in our notification email this past January. But instead, just today, i got this message: "This is a reminder to please arrange for your official transcript to be sent to IIE as soon as possible. The transcript must be the original, registrar generated transcript and in a sealed envelope when mailed in hard copy. Failure to submit in a timely manner may delay the notification of the next stage of your application in the Fulbright U.S. Student award process. We are missing the following transcript(s): BA degree granting/expected institution If you have requested the transcript(s), you may want to check with the registrar to verify when they were sent. Please allow at least 2-3 weeks for the transcripts to reach IIE and be processed. Also, be sure that the transcripts are clearly addressed to: US Student Programs Institute of International Education 809 UN Plaza New York, NY 10017 Please contact me if you have any questions." I already asked her to check that email address and let me know. Has anyone else experienced this? This is frustrating and nerve-wracking!
  6. Congrats on that! Which country dd you apply for? Btw, I was a MIT undergraduate student ('14) and I had applied for Italy fulbright research grant in this cycle. MIT's a great place with vibrant culture, and I'm sure you'll have great time there (other than the stress associated with studying..no place is perfect, but compared to other schools, I can't imagine my undergraduate experience elsewhere). I can say MIT has really spoiled me while I was there. I don't know about MIT's defer policy, but MIT has been supportive of Fulbrighters, and other winners of prestigious fellowships. Which program did you apply for?
  7. You're right. It appears there's a discrepancy in that information, so I wasn't sure. Back then, I just decided to go for the full grant and see what happens, just in case.
  8. oh wow, that's great to hear! I guess I am not alone in this experience! It's a good sign that they seemed interested in my project. I sent them an email response on Mon, Feb. 8, but haven't heard back from them yet. Hoping they will respond soon and answer my questions!
  9. Yep! It was from the Italian Fulbright Commission, based in Rome. Last year, I saw they notify people at the end of the March, so maybe they make decision in February, and then the Fulbright Board or something give final approval in March, for example. But we'll see how it goes. I am also certainly hoping they are interested in my project and picking me as the winner (instead of an alternative..which would be like...so close, but not quite there yet)!!
  10. Yeah, I briefly stated that there are no existing research initiatives or previous research literature for me to build on, which means I will be doing all of this potential research from scratch. This is why 9 months is optimal instead of the 4 to 6 months so I can ensure I have enough time to build the foundation of this research topic. Also, none of my potential research subjects are clustered in one city, so it'll take some time to travel to other cities and back. But yes, they did say in the email that they have reviewed my applications, and they want to hear my response about being considered for the Deafness grant "before the Fulbright Commission make their decision." I hope we do hear back soon!
  11. Yes, you're right! But when I looked at the requirements when I applied, they said "graduate" students, so I assumed I was not eligible because I don't have a graduate degree nor I am working towards one currently. I did send them an email response to ask them if I was wrong. Also, the Deafness grant is 4 to 6 months, not 9 months long. They did say they won't rule out the possibility of staying for full 9 months, so I asked them more about that, and if I would be considered for either grants. I haven't said "yes" exactly yet, but just starting the conversation just to see where it goes. My goal is to stay for 9 months, but if I get the Deafness grant, additional funds for another 3 months stay would have to be found...but has Fulbright historically found some sources of extra funding for just few extra months?
  12. Has anyone got a message from Fulbright asking if you are open to be considered for another type of Fulbright grant?
  13. Yep, at least twice since last year! Good luck to all of you guys!
  14. Congrats! I didn't apply to the Bocconi program, but only the Study/Research program for Italy. I am also nervous and praying that I win one of the 14 Fulbright grants. Haha. Best of luck to you! Have you been to Italy yet?
  15. bump bump bump Again, has anyone thought about doing online version of sending in official transcript (see above)?
  16. Hi guys, Instead of sending in the paper version of transcripts, what about the online part? Has anyone done the below yet? Are these two different things....one from either a Fulbright Program Adviser or the Registrar's Office will be acceptable? "If a Fulbright Program Adviser has the official transcript(s) which was uploaded into the online application, this may be sent to IIE directly by the Fulbright Program Adviser. Please instruct the Fulbright Program Adviser to include a letter verifying that the enclosed transcript is an official transcript. IIE will accept an official electronic transcript if it is sent to IIE directly from the Registrar’s office. Official electronic transcripts can be sent to Vennette Ward." Usually, sending in a paper transcript will cost money for the applicant, and I'll rather save the money when I can.
  17. Italy here too (research)! Whoohooo! Hope we both get picked in the next round!
  18. Hi guys, I just found out I am one of the semi-finalists for Fulbright Italy academic program (research)! SO STOKED!
  19. Do they say this whether you are semifinalst or finalist in the email notification to you?
  20. How did your advisor know? Was he part of the committee reading the applications or something?
  21. yah, i know, it is way longer than it should be. But if you don't win Fulbright, make backup plans and keep applying for other fellowships!
  22. Love how we as overachievers in this forum take it upon ourselves to do all of the tracking and gathering data. This is my first time applying for a Fulbright academic grant and second time for a Fulbright grant in general (The NatGeo Storytelling one...wayy too competitive....864 people applying for 5 spots)
  23. I would like to know more about this too! I'm starting to look at graduate programs for next year.
  24. Applying for Italy as well for the academic grant (9 months)!
  25. Thank you! I would love to hear about other people's projects here (regardless of what countries you applied for).
