  1. I have no idea! I got a congrats email saying if we applied for fin aid, it will come within a few days. I'm sure I pretty much checked off that box that I am requesting for fin aid.
  2. Are you guys based in the US? I haven't received anything (the magazine), but then I'm just living abroad so mail may take much, much longer to reach me.
  3. I haven't. I'll like to know how this works with UChicago Harris. Is there such an email about scholarship reconsideration?
  4. I just got in! But no information about if I am awarded a scholarship or not - it's not clear. Did anyone get a notice of scholarship? Also, if you're a joint degree applicant to SOM and Jackson, let me know!
  5. Got the same award as well (Dean's scholarship for 33k pear yer)! I'm still waiting on hearing from other schools, and then hopefully start the negotiation process to raise the aid amount. Anyone has some tips for successful negotiation?
  6. Accepted into SAIS DC MAIR program! Now waiting for info on financial aid. I luckily submitted my FAFSA just in time for its deadline. In my portal, I see "Financial Aid Reconsideration Request."
  7. Done with Zuckerman fellowship interview....it was hard for me to tell if I did well or not. Everyone was so poker-faced which sorta unnerved me because I'm used to communicating with expressive people. Oh well, time to move on and focus on other things.
  8. Got notified as a finalist for the Zuckerman fellowship program just today!
  9. Accepted to UChicago Harris MPP program with 25K funding per year! No GRE scores submitted. I'm also curious about the max amount of merit funding they give out.
  10. Do you have proof or something like that? This is the first I've heard about this.
  11. What makes is an acceptable range of GRE for the MPP program? I just took GRE and got 164 Verbal, 158 Quantitative (322 overall). AWA is pending.
  12. I'm in the process of applying to MPP or related programs within the U.S, especially at top-tier programs like Harvard Kennedy School. I plan to pursue a joint MBA/MPP degree. The MPP programs had asked for letters of recommendation (LOR).Does anyone have tips, samples, or ideas of what makes a stellar letter of recommendation for a public policy program (MPP)?So I can guide my recommenders because they've never written a LOR for a public policy program and had asked me for some guidance. Two are within academia and one is my client with a social impact business. TIA!

  14. I just took it and got a score of 322 overall so I'll be sending them to my MBA and MPP programs.
  15. has anyone received the Grant Authorization document yet? I'm a Fulbright finalist for Italy and I still haven't seen anything about Grant Authorization document yet (but all of the terms&conditions, medical report, etc, are completed).
  16. Yeah, it does depends on the country as the poster above me mentioned. Mine's for Italy Research/Study, so it starts on October 10, 2017 to July 10, 2017. Would be nice to have some flexibility as long they say "it must be 9 months...the start/end date can be whenever." Oh well, but hey, at least I got the Fulbright grant!
  17. Is there anyone wants to set up Italy Fulbright Facebook group? I think there are only two finalists for Italy in this forum so far, right?
  18. Can you do both Fulbright and going through the citizenship process at the same time while in Italy? Kill two birds with one stone? My only options for an Italian citizenship is either to live there for 10 years (not feasible) or marry an Italian guy (more feasible, but nothing is guaranteed when it comes to relationships. lol lol lol)
  19. Agreed, it's so annoying how they are not flexible about 1 year thing, so we end up paying 300 euros or more for 2 calendar years. But yes, still dirt cheap than an US plan. By the way, if you have a disability that can be proved with an Italian doctor, most medical services are free, including visits to specialized doctors. I am working on getting that "exemption" or "esenzione" to save even more on costs for my "pre-existing condition." By the way, did you know that you can just move to Italy for the purposes of getting your citizenship and cut out the Italian Consulate to get your Italian citizenship/passport in few months instead of a year? I don't have any Italian heritage, unfortunately, but this information is something I just saw on the Internet. Google around and I am sure you will find helpful information. One guy said best to move to a medium sized instead of a large or small city so the wheels of bureaucracy there can get moving quicker in a medium-sized city than...let's say, Milan or Rome.
  20. Thanks for the informative post! If you're a finalist to an European country, especially in Western European countries, such as Italy, Germany, etc, as a student, you can pay to enroll in the national health system to have your pre-existing conditions and routine exams covered...Also, while you travel in Europe/EU outside of your country, you're covered (once you get the European Health Insurance Card...just request it from your local health center). This is a pretty good and inexpensive option, especially if you're poor like me and have no health insurance in the US. 149 euros per year is a bargain in Italy compared to whatever we pay in the US.
  21. As you'll be on the student visa, you can pay €149 per calendar year to enroll in the national health system, where you'll be treated the same as a Italian citizen for health coverage. This is great if you need preventative care, access to medicine, etc. Though I am also waiting to hear more about health insurance coverage from Fulbright and what it covers and does not cover.
  22. Care to elaborate on how it was more than enough? Are preventative/routine care included? Any coverage for medical devices, etc? What about dentists?
  23. wow, €920 per month? That's not enough to live in Europe. I did get an email from the Italy Fulbright Commission telling me they are going to give me €13,800 for 9 to 10 months, which is not too bad. Maybe it differs for each Fulbright Commission on the amount they give to you. By the way, I assume this isn't just whether you're a PhD student or not. I actually only have a B.S. degree and managed to get a research/study grant.
  24. What kind of grants? I'm a finalist for Italy Study/Research grant..and the amount is €13,800 for 9 months.
