  1. Me? No, I ultimately accepted the MSFS offer and declined my other outstanding offer at SIPA.
  2. Yes, yesterday evening! 24k/year. Very grateful!
  3. I know that, I'm just wondering if there's any strategy for funding waitlisters to accept MSFS now or to wait? In other words, I'm curious as to how the waitlist is handled if/when funding frees up and whether holding out makes you more or less likely to receive funding off the waitlist? I'm assuming this is hard to determine, just curious to know if there's a strategy either way before I move forward. I've been told by admissions that the funding waitlist is unranked but it has got to be ordered in some way to reach out to a select number of folks if/when the time comes.
  4. For those waitlisted for funding--does anyone know if there's any benefit to accepting MSFS now vs. holding out until after April 20th to weigh another offer? Any insight as to how the MSFS funding waitlist is handled? Thanks!
  5. Hey! I believe in the Union Connections Lounge at 2:30. And it's open to everyone! Lemonade and cake. It is in celebration of Fulbright's birthday.
  6. Yeah, I just found out that Tom Healy, the chairman of the Fulbright Board, is coming to my school tomorrow to speak. How timely. On another note, J. W. Fulbright was actually a student and at one point the president of the university I attend. Even my college (arts and sciences) and some buildings on campus are named after him. Which might seem pretty cool; however, it was getting a little unnerving when half my emails have the word "Fulbright" in the subject line. Talk about mind games.
  7. Thanks! To be honest, I didn't really even suggest a supplementary project. I did mention offering English/Spanish/German translation assistance at public institutions like hospitals etc. where needed, and I mentioned additional tutoring for students. But that's about it. I'm still not sure how important the proposed projects really are for ETA applications.
  8. It did! I was hoping to be able to prepare myself before reading the email, but it worked out well regardless. Okay thanks, I hope we find out soon! Madrid and Cantabria are like night and day so I am definitely still curious.
  9. Also just received the email- selected for ETA to Spain! Now for you other Spain ETAers, when/how do we find out if we're going to Madrid or Cantabria?
  10. Correct, which is why we were thinking it seems strange that it shows one person to have applied to each of those countries
  11. It looks like it, and it seems that the same goes for Canada as well. Either that or maybe they just don't specify the number given out until decisions have been made.
  12. Yeah I thought the increase for Malaysia was interesting. I remember my Fulbright adviser telling me that Malaysia was going to add 100 new ETA positions for our year- which didn't seem to happen. So I'm wondering if a lot of people might've been applying on that false information, which would suck.
  13. Actually, I think this page does give us the new statistics for ETAs: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/eta-grant-application-statistics It's also on the Fulbright website, just in a different place. Not sure why they configure their site like that.
  14. Yeah, the application seemed kind of vague in that it left it open for us to decide what direction to take regarding the two locations in our essays. I'm also curious about the supplementary project, because I barely referenced a proposed project in my writing, so I wonder how much weight it holds. I mainly focused on Spain itself, my interest in languages and any resume experiences that I found pertinent to the essays. I also applied for the Spanish Ministry English language assistantship, which I'm guessing some other potential fulbrighters also applied to, as well as a couple other teaching posts in Spain. So all my money's on Spain for the upcoming year! I suppose I'll (begrudgingly) have to look into grad school after that, since I probably shouldn't prolong real life forever. Something along the lines of international relations/development or public policy is my guess as to what I'll look into.
  15. Been lurking for a while, so I figured I should contribute. Happy to see other Spain ETA candidates! I referenced both Madrid and Cantabria in my writing, something that probably helped but also something I have come to second guess, given I'd love to be in Madrid over Cantabria. So no, I didn't express a specific desire for one or the other necessarily. I've been wondering the same though, as to how much they take that into consideration. I suppose we'll know in the next month or so!
