I feel like the MSW programs say that they only look at the grades from the last 60 units because it sounds nice. In reality they care about gpa A LOT! Is there a way you can boost up your gpa, like by retaking some classes? If that's not possible then you have to make sure your personal statement, experience and recommendations are out of this world. And apply early, not towards the end of the deadline

Thats rough. I guess they don't care about the other arrangements we have to make(jobs, apply for scholarships, relocation, etc) in order to go to grad school

Got this email today- Your MSW application is currently under review by our faculty. You should receive an email from the CHHS-SW@csulb.edu email account once the evaluation is complete. We are hoping to have the bulk of the decisions by the end of this month; however, given the volume of applications we received, it may take a bit longer. Does anyone know if they can see how many times we have requested our application status report? I check my every few days and I don't want to seem like a pyscho Lol!

I would call the department to confirm they received everything they needed (transcripts, etc). I also applied by the May 1st deadline last year and my app got held up because my transcript got lost in the system. If they have everything I don't think the wait will be too long, maybe a few weeks

Same with me- they haven't responded. They are probably busy right now with grad prep.

Well that's progress. I'm still under department review. How did u find out you were pending?

I called the department to check the status of my application and they said they dont give status updates She did say that they hope to finish reviewing all the apps in May. Key word HOPE. I can't take this anymore I'm wondering if I should just go back to USC

Maybe the mistakes weren't that bad. At this point we are all tense and overly critical of ourselves. Hope u get some good news soon!

Has anyone ever called the LB msw program to check status?

I tried to check my application status today and usually I get an email, except today I didn't. So I waited a few hours and tried again, and still no email. Has this ever happened to anyone? I wonder if their system is down or if its something else..

That seems weird. In my experience, they tell you which classes u need to take (social work a, b & c your first semester) but its up to you to decide what day and time works for u from all the course offerings. Can I ask what school this is?

Great idea. I emailed him as well asking for my score. He replied and said he can't tell me but he said he can tell me in which area I need to strengthen my app. So now I'm waiting for him to reply with the feedback.

That's the same email I got. I wish they would tell us where we stand compared to the other applicants. I think its only fair...

Thanks. It's not good news. He said my app wasn't strong enough for the first round of emails and letters (which I already knew since I haven't heard anything). Depending on how many people accept or decline they will send out a 2nd round of letters/emails and so on. No hint of whether I made it to the maybe list. I'm taking it as a "no". Really sucks because I thought I had a strong application.
