  1. Does anyone know where Fullerton is on the acceptances? I mean are people still waiting hear back and are people still being accepted off the wait list? Or heads everything been finalized? Also, does anyone know what their process is for evaluating the applications and making decisions? I remember seeing a post about this earlier but now I can't find it
  2. Hi everyone, I just wanted to see if anyone has heard from financial aid? I applied for scholarships thru the social work department but I haven't heard anything. Does anyone know what the turn around time is?
  3. At least now is official and you can move on. Best of luck in your new position!
  4. It's very unprofessional to say the least
  5. Transferring is not easier. I asked csuf and csulb about transferring units from another msw program. Csulb said no. Csuf said possibly but I would have to talk to the department chair and take a profecency test. And the max that you could transfer is only 6 units.
  6. Duan told me that I would hear by June 1. This was 2 weeks ago. Guess what it's June 1st and no news. Even the process to become a US citizen doesn't take this long from start to finish! I know because I help people through that process for work.
  7. Do they notify you to tell you that you are on the waitlist?
  8. Lol. Do you know if the letter will be via email or snail mail? I'm pretty sure I'll get a rejection as well but without getting the actual letter I don't know if I should still be hopeful.
  9. Mine was waiting for me in my inbox when I woke up this morning. I'm ok with it. Everything happens for a reason. I guess I was meant to go to USC. I had started their program last fall and took a leave. I already told them I would be returning a few weeks ago. At least the wait is over now.
  10. Has anyone gotten a rejection from CSULB?
  11. Hi Opal, I don't think your gpa will be a problem because you still meet the minimum requirement. Most schools in So. Cal require that your minimum gpa be at least 2.75ish. Just explain your passion for social work in your personal statement and what made you leave law school. Msw programs really focus on your work and volunteer experience to see if u are really cut out for this field so highlight that in your personal statement as well.I hope this helps
  12. I hope this is a lucky week for everyone still waiting
  13. I would suggest that you retake some of the classes you did poorly in to replace the original grade. Choose a few of the easy ones so you get As. That should boost your gpa. I had a similar situation and by retaking a few classes, I replaced Fs with As. MSW programs get so many apps that even highly qualified apps get rejected because there are not enought seats in the program so if your gpa didn't meet the requirement it'll probably be an automatic denial.
  14. Darn. I'm sorry. But don't lose hope yet.
  15. Try emailing them to ask what your number/score is. Maybe throw in some stuff to show how interested you are in their program? I still haven't heard anything.
  16. Thank you Jax_Nise and dtor! It's very helpful information. If they haven't finished reviewing all the apps that means there is still hope!
  17. Congrats! That's great! I also applied on the Feb 16. Would you mind sharing your gpa and experience? I'm trying to figure if no news is good news or bad news for me!
  18. Idk. I think I'm officially over waiting for responses.
  19. I contacted the department today. They said they hope to have all the decisions by June 1.
  20. Hi all. I'm new to this forum. Does anyone know of an online bsw program? I already have a B.A. in sociology but am thinking about getting a bsw and then applying for advanced candidacy to msw programs. Are there any online 12 month bsw programs out there? I think that only 1 year of field placement is required right?
  21. Jillion- you've got me thinking about the program at Simmons. Did they offer you any financial aid? If you start in Sept 2015 when do you graduate? How was the application process? I've been accepted to usc (on campus, not online) but I can't stomach the cost. They are practically selling the degree.
  22. So sorry to hear that Did yout get the letters via email or snail mail?
  23. Having 2 field placements will give you a lot more experience which is really important to employers. In the field of social work experience matters more than the school because as long as they are accedidated, they follow a similar curriculum. Seems like Simmons will give you more experience, you will graduate sooner so you can start working sooner and it is still a very respectable school. How do the programs compare in cost?
