  1. It depends on the individual school's application process. Some will hold the scores in limbo and wait for the app to come thru, others will have no idea what to do with it. It all depends on what software they are using. Most schools will be OK with the scores if they are within a year or so of the application, but you would need to check with the individual school Since it won't cost you anything to send the scores on the test day you might as well do it then, you won't be out any $$$ for doing it that way. If you wait (even until the day after you take the test) you will need to pay the extra fees -- personally I think that sucks, ETS should allow you to send the initial set of 3 or 4 anytime within a reasonable time period after taking the test.
  2. I don't mind the snow all that much, but my gripe is that my township plows all of the secondary streets in the same order for every snow storm, and mine is way down at the bottom of the list. If I could get out of my local street and the 1/4 mile to the main road everything is fine, but it really sucks driving a Mini thru 6+ inches of snow.

  6. I do just the opposite - Everything that comes to me gets filtered into subfolders - if it is left in my inbox it is probably spam. Important to-do stuff gets forwarded to an email address that I only access via my phone.

  12. The simplest answer is usually the best - reread the material. I found it better to do it in short bursts, rather than trying to cram everything back in at once. I think the act of rereading triggered some sort of deep retrieval mechanism in the brain and exercised bits that hadn't been used in a while. Most of it came back fairly quickly, what didn't, I probably never really understood anyway.

  14. When I was at the commencement ceremony for my undergrad, there were 6 or 7 phds awarded, about half went to folks over 40, one guy looked about 60. It may not be as uncommon as you think, but it very well may be field dependent.

  18. Typical - the one you need is the one that the university does not have... We have SAS & STATA here, and I prefer R or SPSS. I'm pretty sure that there is a special academic price available for STATA with a .edu email address, be sure to ask, it may be a significant discount.
