Do you guys know how many applications they got this year and how many they accepted? I am also considering applying there and looking into some other programs as well. I would like to get some idea about overall numbers. Thanks. -
Anyone interested in Bilingual Speech Language Pathology?
Bapple replied to Liz113's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I wish I could do that. My native language is Turkish and I think there is no hope for me to find a school having Turkish in their program. I am so interested in Bilingual programs though. I studied German also, but I am not as fluent at it as I am in English. -

Great thread! I would love to hear about California schools. It is competitive for sure. But have no other choice. Thanks for all the information everyone! -

Yes, in order to get financial aid, you have to apply for second bachelors. Just taking by prerequisite classes, schools do not provide financial aid. That was the reason for a lot of people switch to second bachelors even though they start as non degree seeking students. I am also a Utah State online second bachelors student. I will graduate in May. I would highly recommend it. Prof are very nice and helpful. It is tough at times, I admit you will need to study A LOT! However at the end, you will feel confident that you know a lot about the field. -
I am using windows phone and I wish there were some useful apps for windows. I would be so happy. Anyone knows any? I have magoosh one, it is pretty helpful. But I wish there were more.

Please help! They won't allow me to shadow an SLP!

Do you have any friends working as an Occupational Therapist or Physical therapist, maybe even an assistant? They generally have friends working as SLPs. My friend called all her friends and her friends called all their friends. Eventually I found some SLPs to observe. Otherwise it would have been impossible for me to get some observation as well. It is really irritating I know.. It seems like nobody wants to help even though they had the same issues years ago. Good luck! -
Occupational Therapy can be considered close to speech therapy. I have a friend working at school district as an OT and she loves her job. As far as I heard, Occupational Therapy assistants are also in high demand. They have also better income compared to a SLPA. My friend really tried to convince me for a while to go for OT.

I totally agree! I enjoyed all the classes I have been taking! All the professors are very helpful and they are very good at their field. I am so glad I am a student of USU. I will ask for recommendation letters from them, I have to actually. Hopefully I will be able to get at least 2. I would be sooo happy! I also highly recommend USU for prerequisites or second bacc. In my opinion, USU has been doing this for a long time and they are expert about it. Good luck!

SLP California Applicants for Fall 2015

Pandasa, I am a current student of Utah State University. I am taking my prerequisite classes and thinking to take my ASHA requirement classes from them as well. This is my second term. I have taken 6 classes so far. I wanted to let you know that it is pretty intense. Their 2nd bac. is 12 classes total, I think. Which means you will need to take 6 classes per term (fall and spring) or maybe divide into 3 terms (fall-spring-summer, they have a summer term) and take 4 classes per term. This second is more doable, but I tell you their classes are intense, you will need to study very hard as most grad schools want to see all A's in the post-bac transcripts. As you know the field is very competitive. Also, you should give a decision pretty soon. Fall term classes of Utah start in August 25, if I am not mistaken. Briefly, Utah online is doable! I like their system and I would recommend it. Hope this helps! -
Oh great!!! It says there they extended it. I was not sure if that was for only once. Big difference in the price. Thank you !!!

Does Magoosh always have discounts?? I am planning to take GRE next year, but I will not be able to study for the next couple of months. I see it has a huge discount now, I really do not want to miss it. Thank you!
