Hi, I just received this email (I suppose its a mass email), but my heart almost stopped when I saw its title: Brown University Graduate School Admissions Process Dear Mario, Thank you for applying for admission to Brown University Graduate School. We are reviewing applications and will notify you via email once a decision has been rendered. Responses to offers of admission must be received by 4:00 p.m. EST on April 15, 2010. With best wishes, Dean Sheila Bonde and the Admissions Staff Graduate School Brown University Someone else got it? Man I hate mass emails

Ridiculously stupid application status-checking routines
mario replied to Maya's topic in Sociology Forum
I do basically the same thing, only I don't turn on my pc when I get up, just check my mail in my phone. Same routine, check every 20 mins for an update, every 30 minutes gradcafe, every time my phone vibrates for mail, again and again and again.... -
Actually I have considered posting my acceptance (if I am accepted) but then I realized that some of my friends, who are attending other schools I also want to get in could, by some random chance, make the comment I was accepted to a member of the adcom and totally screw me…so, no. Also there is this thing, I haven’t told my boss I’m applying, only if I’m accepted I will tell her (but not just after it, I will wait until my contract ends, so we can negotiate my staying in work just a little more, to make some savings I’ll need)

don't know.... since I'm not in the US my alternative was to buy a bb so I could be instantly notified if something major happens. Until now only things exciting i've read are related to the notifications on this forum that keep poping up in my email account.... talking about that, if there is an admin here, i've seen the iphone interface for the site, but there is no bb interface (to check the result page specially)

mine has this mind bogglingly red light that has the bad habit of going on just when i'm falling asleep (and vibrates, so I get the vibration) or when I'm driving... the worst moments are the best for emails, facebook notifications or chats...
-
I also hate facebook for the red light on my bb, gmail, gtalk..... and the spam mails that somehow I hope are actually from yale or brown...
-
i'd say Barthes
-
the search box is now over the examples searches box, before is was under it...
-
you can close the news ticker or the sorting thing?
-
i've gone from smoking 1.5 10-packs a day to probably 3 10.packs a day, gained at least 3 kilos (sorry for the different system, i'm in another hemisphere)
-
same here, would love to blog...sign me up!
-
someone else with this problem?
-
at least is not one of those embark schools like brown or cornell. i hate that system.......
-
mine were should arrived mid-november (i took gre 7-oct and toefl 31-oct), so, yes, maybe there is a glitch with their system. the chair of my dept was very easy to contact and very helpful. i contacted her in early october, when i was still thinking of schools and she had a very possitive approach (VU is one of my top schools, one of the best spanish departments and very well funded) thanks god for that. So maybe, you should contact the chair of your school, talk to him or hem....
