  1. Hey, just want to now if someone has applied to Vanderbilt... i'm applying to the Spanish programm. I completed the online app (1st of november), my recomenders sent the 3 letters, they recieved the copies of my records and diploma (i don't know why they wanted 2) but the standarized tests (in my case GRE and TOEFL because i'm international) don't show up in the system yet....i've talked to the chair of the department and she told me to send unofficial scanned copies, that it is ok, if i'm accepted then they will ask for the official scores, but still... all the others schools receieved them (yale, brown and cornell) i took both tests in october, they were reported in mid november.... i don't know if vander system is slow usually (it's free after all) but want some insights from people applying... thanks!

  7. i agree on steps 1 & 5, i will do the same, probably call half my family in between, and then read the letter or email at least 5 times to check if there is a smallprint somewhere that says"if you do not respond this within 5 minutes of reception, you won't be accepted.."

  9. yeah, bb is the best way be updated all time... i have 3 deadlines to go but i submited my app in late october so maybe the phone will kill me one morning with an unexpected mail

  11. Hola, yo también estoy en lo mismo que Uds.: WUSTL, Cornell, Brown y Yale. Ahora solo nos queda esperar un poco.... hay otro tópico para las postulaciones a español en Sé que Vander tiene un proceso de admisión más rápido que otras, las interviews son hechas a finales de enero (so, you should prepare), piden detalles sobre el statement y un poco de perspectivas profesionales, etc. Por lo que entiendo, DJH, te estás postulando a latin american studies? me causa curiosidad porque el título de la thread es literatura española, en fin. sobre tu comentario, sew8d, sobre la información de los departamentos, en realidad a mi me resulto muy facil encontrarla, solo tuve que preguntarle a amigos que estudian en departamentos de español y pude construir una red, mas o menos larga, de contactos que me ayudaron a determinar las universidades que se ajustaban mas a mis intereses. nos vemos y suerte!
