That's a great question! I'm wondering the same. Doesn't seem like the website offers much guidance regarding the structure of the proposal. Hmm...

Oh! Are you taking your master's in Canada or the US? Erika Carlson & Amanda Uliaszek at UTSC! What about you? I'm still working on my SOP. This is my first time applying so I'm pretty stressed but I'm just taking it day by day! -

I'm applying to UTSC and Western too! Are you applying to their phd or master's program? -
(ClinicalPsych) accepted GRE averages vs. actual GRE scores

Just gonna piggybacking on this thread! Would it be wise to address not-so-stellar GRE scores in your SOP? -
I would definitely email/call the admissions office just in case. You wouldn't want them to cut off the last 300 words from your SOP!

Awesome, thanks!

Thanks!

Would it be wise to include poster presentations in my SOP even though they were not presented at renowned conferences? Any advice would be appreciated!

My interest is also mindfulness! With an emphasis in borderline personality disorder in my case haha. From doing research on mindfulness, I don't believe mindfulness and schizophrenia are entirely unrelated! I'm sure you have already addressed the similarities or the relationship between the two in your letter. You could talk about how your interest and experience in one area (whether that be mindfulness or schizophrenia) has strengthen your desire to research the other area. Also, you could perhaps talk about how the experiences/skills you have gained through your research in schizophrenia can be transferable to research in other areas (in this case mindfulness)! I hope this helps you a little!

That's a relieve to hear! Thanks!

If I'm an undergraduate student applying to the OGS for my first time, would it be acceptable to use my research proposal for the CGS-M in my OGS applications since I haven't had any experience in the graduate level yet to revise the research proposal?
-
Even though the deadline is less than a month away, I thought this thread might be useful for those applying for CGS-M! Anyone else applying for CGS-M? How are the applications coming along?

Dwight Mazmanian. What about you?

I am in the exact same situation as you (don't worry you're not alone)! My quant score is below 50th percentile hence why I'm taking it again for the third time in November. Good luck to you!
-
I'm applying to Lakehead too! I am retaking the GRE next month. Good luck with your applications!
-
How's everyone doing with their applications so far?
-
Oh i see! That cleared everything up haha. I will definitely look into some research-oriented masters programs! Thanks so much!

I'm a bit confused. Is there such a thing as research-based clinical master's programs?
-
Since I live in Canada, we are admitted to Master's prior to the phd program. However, I'm second guessing my chances of acceptance into these programs. I'm interested in looking into terminal master's in the States to gain more experience and build up my CV and then reapply to the programs in Canada. I know this route might be the most time consuming and expensive route but I'm just considering all my options at this point. This might be a good plan B to have incase I don't get accepted to any programs in Canada this cycle.

Can a high subject GRE score make up for a low GRE score?
TKYU replied to TKYU's topic in Psychology Forum
Thanks everyone for information! My current situation is that on the GRE I took a week ago, since I scored terribly on the Quant section of the GRE but decent on the Verbal, I have registered to retake it at the beginning of November. However, because 2 out of the 9 schools that I am applying to require the subject GRE, I am going to take the test at the end of October. The rest of the schools don't require the subject GRE but is recommended. Now this doesn't leave me a whole lot of time to study for both. I want to study for the subject GRE and get a stellar score on that because I did really well in my undergrad as a psych major, but I also want to study more for the general GRE to ensure that I get a much better quant score than the last time. I'm planning on studying for the subject GRE most days leading up to the exam but also give myself one or two days over the weekends to study for the general GRE so I don't completely forget everything that I've studied for. What do you guys think is the wisest thing for me to do? Any advice would be much appreciated! -
Just going to piggy back on this. I would also be interested in some terminal Master's programs in Clinical Psych! Thanks!
-
Any input would be much appreciated! Also, the subject GRE is "not required but recommended" for most of the schools that I'm applying to. Obviously if I get a high score on the subject GRE I will definitely report it, however, if I get a mediocre score, would it still be wise for me to report it? (Side note, will be taking the test at the end of this month.)

Thanks! That was really helpful!
