Are you in an on campus undergrad program currently? I did some research in my undergrad through the Psychology department. It wasn't related to SLP at all but still helped to beef up my application later on!

I did ABA for 2 years before grad school and recently got my SLPA (mainly because I was scared I would not get into grad school and that would be a great backup plan). The SLPA program I was in was only the supervision hours and no classes because I got my second BA at USU. Once I was accepted, the SLPA did seem like kind of a waste of money as I will have little to no time to work during graduate school, but the experience I got was very valuable as well. I got to gain experience with neurologically typical students (vs ASD) who had articulation or language disorders and I feel like I learned so much doing therapy with them. None of this SLPA stuff was in time for my graduate apps, and I will say that I think the ABA experience was a big part of what got me accepted to competitive schools.

I just got accepted off of the waitlist and declined today as well! So they are still accepting people!

I'm not sure how difficult it will be without a smartphone, I like having mine so I can check emails at any time and other little things like that but you are probably fine with any phone as long as you have a computer/tablet for school. As for your computer, I personally would be uncomfortable if mine wasn't working well because it would be a disaster if it wouldn't turn on and made you not able to complete an assignment. That would not be fun! -

I love it! I ordered it from a little paper store that got it early and got it in the mail yesterday! I've heard it will sell out really fast when it is released online, just FYI! -

I looked at the EC and it has the days split up into morning/afternoon/evening I believe. I didn't think this would work into our schedules with classes/clinical work etc. but it all sort of depends on what works for you! Plum Paper Designs on Etsy was another planner that was recommended by others online and you can customize it -

It's called the Simplifed Planner by Emily Ley, it was honestly pretty expensive but I really like that it splits each day seperately and divides them by the hour. Plus it is gorgeous and I wouldn't mind looking at it every day! But looking around there are lots of good options online for planners just depending on what your organizing style is. -

I just bought a fancy planner that i am hoping will keep me organized in grad school! My current list: -laminator -stylus -keyboard case for my iPad -pen light -label maker -digital recorder I've been stalking boards for ideas because I am a school supply addict (but it looks like I am not alone!) Being an ABA therapist, I have a carload full of games and reinforcers that I have collected over the past few years.. I definitely recommend the thrift stores to look for materals, but check to be sure all the game pieces are there! That goes for yard sales too -

Hi! From what I have seen, CSUN is pretty competitive. Most people seem to have had around a 3.9 but I am not sure what the exact stats were. As for a personal statement, our application had some pretty specific questions (about experience in the field, and how you have applied your coursework to actual therapy work) so I just made sure to really thoroughly answer their questions and I had a good example of how I used something I used in my coursework to change part of my therapy plan in my current ABA therapy position. I had 1 letter of recommendation from my job that was strong and 2 from Utah State that I actually never even read and I did not know the professors well (but did well in their classes) so I doubt those were extremely strong. I'm not sure about the other online programs but I think there is a topic about online schools somewhere on the forum if you search Also, is the fall cohort online? I had thought that the fall was residential and spring was the only online option. Hope that was helpful and good luck!

For anyone in Cohort 16, we made a facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/928036703881874/

Hi! Cohort 16 is just the number of the cohort I believe, fall should be Cohort 17. It starts in May. Personally, I chose the online option because I am currently getting my SLPA license and plan to work thorughout grad school. I also loved USU's online post-bach and did really well with an online format. Good luck getting in to CSUN!

Out of curiosity, what makes the two programs different? Does ECU help you find clinical placement?
-
Congratulations!!! It is my top choice but I also really love a couple of other schools that I applied to. But for now I am pretty sure I will stick with CSUN, what about you?

Just got my acceptance via email, who else is in Cohort 16? I'm so excited!!
