If you plan to bike then I would stay close to grand river and Michigan ave. There are mostly houses just north of campus there are a few high rises but they are super expensive, most of the house shares are very affordable. People post a lot of housing on regular Craigslist and msu Craigslist on Facebook. North of campus past grand river is also prime location for being close to all the bars and walking to campus for games so it can get a bit rowdy. There are more apartments east of campus on grand river and West of campus on Michigan Ave that are pretty affordable and its on the #1 bus line so In the winter when its gets too snowy you can hop on a bus easily and get to campus quickly. Perhaps the GA and TA strike situation also significantly delays the process. But let's see how next week turns out. I am not too interested in going to Canada, but the history department at UT is a really solid fit for me.

Hawaii sounds like a perfect place for you then. The department is huge in Asian history (I believe there are 11 of them in the Asian field in total). I guess you want to work with Yuma Totani? I study diaspora and migration in colonial Southeast Asia. I have been awarded the TA-ship and understand that there are people on the waiting list. I will try to make a decision as soon as possible!

That must have been me, but their funding is not good compared to my other offer (despite its being among the top in my field) so I am very inclined to turn down their offer soon. But how nice it is to be able to go to UH! What is your area of specialization?

You should note that it is not unheard of for some people to deliberately troll the results reporting.
