  1. The mistake you made was choose National Geographic Fellowship for 3a. 3a is for special opportunities only. You should have left it blank. As Horb suggested, you may wanna consider reapplying. BTW- Your project sounds fascinating.
  2. Welcome to the Cafe! Have you been recommended? If so, the next stage is the phone interview. My understanding is that they will let you know the date and time of the interview.
  3. Congratulations on getting recommended. It's really difficult to say because every year is different. Last year, the notifications were sent out on the 18th of March. The US-UK Fulbright Commission website has March 2015 for notifications. I would be very delighted if we hear in March. I am applying to Leicester's International Relations and World Order program. Which school are you interested in?
  4. A very satisfying day for you then? Congratulations!
  5. Joy25, I don't think you should worry much. I got the email but some people from my school are still waiting. It's most likely an administrative thing.
  6. minimouse, I am sorry to hear you were not recommended. I know this is cliche but it's always the journey that matters. This experience will only make you a better and stronger candidate if you try again next year.
  7. Congratulations to all those who were recommended and commiserations to all those who did not move on. The consensus seems to be that applying again is worth it.
  8. RECOMMENDED! Oh wow! I am absolutely stunned! Could this happen?
  9. Thankfully I slept well last night but now I can't concentrate. I am trying to read but I can't focus on the page.
  10. Anyone else rereading their essays? I reread mine this morning as if they somehow hold clues to someone else's subjective decision. How irrational of me!
  11. This is quite interesting. Mine says I will find out first. In her email, she even asked that I keep her in the know. Why would she say that if she knows already?
  12. International Relations and World Order, with emphasis on the intersection between social change and foreign policy (specifically British foreign policy). I thought about applying to the LSE but got scared of the competition. I hope we all get good news tomorrow or whenever.
  13. Kalechip Good luck to you! I am also applying to the UK and apparently it's the most competitive.
  14. So my advisor tells me she's heard nothing.I hope she knows something but is hiding it from me.
  15. This. I was looking forward to the gap year but three weeks in, the stress of thinking about the future and what it holds is killing me. I am gald I am here though. Reading the posts here is cathartic.
  16. I just want to tell them something. All I do these days is read in bed all day and go to my crappy job in the evening. I thought about studying for the LSAT since I eventually want to go to law school but decided against starting it since I can't focus at the moment. If I am not recommended, then it's the LSAT. I am the first in my family to graduate from college and so I am under intense pressure to "do something." I have a BA in political science. There are millions of us out there but try telling that to my folks! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
  17. I will be utterly devastated if they push it back to the 30th because I have had it with my folks. I know they are well meaning but it's beyond annoying.
  18. This is the best news I got since I graduated on the 20th. See I didn't tell my folks of the Fulbright and everyone's been asking me of my plans. Come Friday I will have an answer for all. Thanks for sharing this great info.
  19. Those of you reapplying, how did the experience of last year change your perspective of the program as a whole?
  20. Horb, your post suggests that there's no fixed amount of money for the fulbright program (my understanding was each country has a different funding structure depending on the priorities of the host country) and that the numbers can change depending on an increase or decrease of funds. Is that a fair deduction from your post?
  21. For me, I'd rather they put it in the subject line. If I were to dig for it, I'd have already died before I got to the magical word/words.
  22. Does anyone how the budget cuts of last year might affect the Fulbright?
  23. Welcome Ben! I am also applying to the UK (Leicester). I don't know why I overlooked the part about the UK being super crazy competitive! Then again you can't win if you don't play. I reckon the last week of January.
