  1. I am partial to this. Which is worse? Not getting selected or getting recommended only to be told to bugger off later?
  2. For a moment, I was freaking out and then I saw your post whilst also checking my spam at the same and there it was.
  3. Are you sure the figure is exclusive of tuition?
  4. I am in the same boat. In hindsight, I think what I wrote was utter balderdash. My gf reckons it's a case of butterflies. I hope she's right but to be honest I am not dreadfully optimistic.
  5. If you go through the 2014-2015 forum, you'll find tons of useful information. There are some folks who applied for the US Scholars program last year who had a lot to say about the process. Congratulations on the recommendation and good luck with the interview!
  6. As in after the deadline, we should hear after 3 weeks. I know this is ambitious but wouldn't that be something!
  7. One would think that I have no time to even think about the damn thing. I am taking my last semester of undergraduate classes including my uni's much dreaded senior capstone and working two jobs yet somehow it just finds its way into my head. One minute I am talking to my boss about the minutiae of an office memo and the next I am thinking "what if they find a typo in my app?" It's funny I mention a typo because one of the professors from my school is part of the team that goes to Washington to evaluate the applications and he assured me that they don't take off points for a typo. They really need to finish the whole thing in 3 weeks!!!
  8. I am trying my best to forget about the Fulbright but in vain. It just doesn't go away. How are you folks dealing with this or is this isolated to me?
  9. Whaynes2 I think the next step after recommendation is an interview. I don't know if everyone is interviewed but it's my understanding that most people do an interview of some kind. As for the chances of being chosen after recommendation, that depends on factors like the project (eta, research/study, scholar program), country/region, and funds. I am applying to the UK so I have a massive 5% chance!
  10. I also got my second confirmation email from Fulbright this morning. As rugggg said let's hope it's congratulations for all of us come January.
  11. Good luck to all of you.
  12. I had my campus interview today. Wasn't adversarial at all. They did however suggest I re-write a big portion of my SOG essay. They felt it wasn't concise enough. I re-wrote and submitted my application. I feel young again. This has been one of the most stressful months of my college life. Now the wait begins!
  13. Well if I go as far as you did, I would be extremely delighted. I am applying for MA in international relations and world order at Leicester. 13 people including you applied last year and who knows how many will apply this year.I know the UK is difficult but if anything the experience will make me a better person. Would you be willing to email me a few tips of what not to do in applications?
  14. Horb Thanks. I was going through the 14-15 forum and I see that you were recommended last year. Did you go to Leicester?
  15. Hello Everyone, A friend recommended this forum. Looks like a very good place to ask questions and get info. So I have been working on my application all summer and I have campus interview on the 29th. I am applying for a Fulbright partner university study grant to the UK from the US. How can I make my application competitive? What are some not-so-obvious big NO NOs? Does it help that I speak 3 languages fluently? Is it true that the fulbright is skewered more towards the natural sciences and away from the humanities and social sciences? Good luck everyone
