Well, it's not business hours in any US schools yet... Also, we'd have to wait for people to decline and theoretically they have all day. Or I suppose, until business hours end at that school.
I've heard of people on this board getting off the waitlist after the 15th. One of the schools that I applied to said specifically that I might not hear back until a few days after the 15th. Not all schools rank the waitlist or will tell you your rank. One of the schools told me that they couldn't tell me my place on the list. Another school told me that they don't rank the waitlist, meaning that theoretically everyone has the same shot of getting accepted. I guess all that you can really do is wait and see what happens. Remember, some people that got accepted might also be holding out for other offers so that's why they'll wait until the last minute.
One of the waitlists I'm on isn't ranked, but I don't know how many people are on it. I know for sure someone on this forum has the same interests as me, though... D:
This happened to me too. It turns out that I was waitlisted but that the university does not notify people when they waitlist them. Since it's so late, I would go ahead and email or call the department for a status update. At this stage, I'd think it was normal for people to ask.
Thanks guys. I'm getting really nervous and it's throwing off my sleeping schedule. In other news, they're going to film a reality series in my town. They're choosing people right now. If I don't get into grad school, there's my back up. I'll be someone's sassy BFF. I need to practice throwing wine at people's faces and ripping wigs off people's heads, though.
That email you mentioned in the other thread sounded like they were saying that you weren't going to be funded. Try calling them and ask for a direct answer. To me, though, it sounds like they were politely telling you that you might have a chance for later funding (although this is not guaranteed), but they were not offering you anything now.
