Fletcher Admits - Fall 2015!
ZebraFinch replied to MsFutureDiplomat's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I talked to people at SAIS a lot And The dufferences i can ser are that the program gives hoy skills very useful in the private sector as well and it's more practical (rather than focusing on theory) than MALD seems to be. But they're both excellent. Sorry for typos, typed on the phone. -
Hey if I had any luck finding awesome jobs I'd wait for the whole grad school thing
-
Well they wrote on their site that they accept very few students to the Conflict Resolution program, so I never thought I had a shot.
-
Check the HKS threads, there's a user who's given incredible information about the process. Not sure if it applies to all schools, but still worth a read.
-
I just got an email asking me to consider applying to the Conflict Resolution program. I applied/got accepted to the International Studies program but wrote about my interest in Conflict resolution on my essay. Should I take this as a personal recommendation from the school?
-
I think this depends a lot on whether the school gives out more merit or needs-based aid maybe?

25, but I graduated from my undergrad this last June because I took over a year off to study abroad in Russia, double-majored in econ and poli sci, and medical issues had me withdraw from some classes. I got accepted into Korbel with funding, still waiting on Georgetown, waitlisted at Fletcher... honestly, if I don't get off Fletcher's waitlist I might just take a year to work, as I'm not nearly interested enough in Korbel. Fletcher (okay, let's say the MALD program) has been my dream school forever and if that means taking some time before I can make a better application and get in, I'll do that. I just got offered a job in the federal government so it's not that bad.

Fletcher Admits - Fall 2015!

Waitlisted. Bummed out sort of as this was my top choice, but with no work experience I expected a straight rejection. Worried though because Korbel accepted me.... and I much prefer Fletcher over Korbel, but I'm not sure what my odds at getting off the waitlist are. And I have until mid-April to tell Korbel, but Fletcher will only let us know in May... I almost wish I had been rejected instead. -

Anyone know if they change our status on the websites or will it be an email? -

I got no personalized email, just one asking me to clarify something about my transcripts but it was loong ago I'm so anxious over Fletcher! -
Yep, if this happened, OP needs to contact ETS, and something shady was going on there. I'm not sure what will happen with his scores tho.
-
That's very suspicious.

GPA: 3.39 / 4.00 GRE: 158 V/146Q/5 AW Lived almost two years in Moscow, Russia while studying (part of it as a Boren scholar), strong econ background... internship at the Foreign Service Institute, also speak Spanish. I think Georgetown is a massive longshot for me, but I got accepted into Korbel with funding so I have a teeny bit more hope for Georgetown now (although I expect no funding).

Still Waiting? What is Your Top Choice?(Fall 2015)
ZebraFinch replied to a topic in Government Affairs Forum
Well, they likely assume that admitted students want to be in DC regardless of costs, so no need to be considerate or anything... but didn't the MPP results already come from many of these schools? -
Yeah, similar issue here. I got offered a pretty good job, and funding from Korbel.... not sure what to do.
-
I vowed not to go to grad school this year unless I got fellowships. Might seem naive to think I can pull that off but I have a family to think of. It's crazy how expensive schools in this field are.
-
Give it a few days, mine came like two days after I first saw the buttons (I hadn't checked the buttons before so they might have been there longer).
-
The emails are sent to you, but the "buttons" are on the Pioneer site.
-
I didn't get an email about funding, it was written in the offer itself.
-
I just got the email. 15k a year. I can't believe it! With my terrible GRE, I expected no funding.
-
Don't lose hope if you still haven't heard, I called yesterday and they said acceptance emails will be sent in the next couple of weeks ad well.
-
I have buttons on the pioneer website saying "accept this offer" and "decline this offer" but no email! What does this mean?! *going insane* This is the one school I expect to get in.
