  1. Hi, I am also facing a decision between Harvard ( QM MPH) and Hopkins (schoolwide MPH), what did you choose? And how is everything?

  2. welp, emory would be 53K and Hopkins would be 59k. this is assuming i get no funding from the scholarhsips i'm applying to (I won't hold y breath tho). this has all made me so worried all of a sudden...
  3. thanks ya'll! I definitely do not have any strong desire to stay in Atlanta post graduation. with the 75% tuition at Hopkins, the schools would cost about the same. The only money I'd be saving is on housing since I'll be commuting from my family's home about 30 min away.. I have about a year's worth of rent money saved up, so I feel okay moving. Though, it is all of my savings.. hmm, so, I guess baltimore it is!
  4. Is this a no brainer? I'm so torn between my home (emory) and a really great, well known school (Hopkins) At Hopkins I'd be getting an MSPH in global epidemiology in their international health department At Emory I'd be getting an MPH in epidemiology. But I also went here for undergrad, so it's all I've ever known Which would you choose..and why?
  5. i got accepted today!!! but omg let me tell you this story. so i was freaking out so i said i'd give myself a week before i emailed them. I teetered with this thought, but then i got fed up because it's almost April for pete's sake!!!! today i emailed them saying that "i hadn't heard back since so I'm assuming I'm rejected. please confirm" and then they emailed me back saying "we made your decision last night, congratulations!" and then i cried happy tears. and frustrated tears. it took soooooooooo long. the moral of this story is to email your department directly--not the general admissions email---if you want an answer asap
  6. i know!! Pitt, yo... you a hot mess rn. It's like they really really really don't want out-of-state people to apply or attend. :/
  7. Emory's admitted student facebook page has been saying finaid info will begin being released on March 20th via OPUS. they also said all of their merit awards have been notified already. *sad face*
  8. Hi all, so, we are fast approaching the April 15th deadline. I applied for an MPH in epidemiology, submitted my FAFSA the first week of February, but have yet to hear anything about financial aid from any school (Emory, Pitt, Miami, or Texas--exception of BU). I'd really like to have this information so I can compare costs as it is a huge factor in my decision (and how much in private loans I'd need to take out, etc..). Should I start contacting the financial aid departments directly? When do they usually show you what your financial aid package will look like?? Am I not getting any info because I submitted my FAFSA too late?
  9. it was the International Health department :/ this is KILLING ME. it's almost a month before we have to freaking decide
  10. oops, i applied for the MSPH back in december and have heard nada. Should i expect a rejection at this point??
  11. also, boston has their stats easily accesible too..if anyone cares...: http://www.bu.edu/sph/careers/graduate-employment-data/ ooh, and columbia has their own version: http://www.mailman.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/Employment-Outcomes-2012-2013-for-web2.pdf interesting how these schools don't go as deep into the specifics as Emory......*rubs chin*
  12. Hey hey hay now, cheer up! first of all, you got into some pretty great programs! You go Glen Coco!!! Secondly, these are starting salaries and yes we should've all gone to business school, or some other field if we wanted to make $$$$$$$. Do you think I'm not semi jealous of my 2014 BBA friends (who dont even have a master's!) who started making $50k four months after graduation?!! you bet your ass I am! I could do a job for the $ alone (my current status), but a career? no. never. It's so easy to play the comparison game, but that is hella exhausting. far far worse than Monopoly. I know these salaries look pretty "bad", but I comfort myself with the idea that at least i'm in a field where I won't be bored every day because I'm not interested in the work itself*. *I am also 22 years old--no debt, kids, or significant other (wooohooo single!!). I also live at home and pay, like, 3 bills. admittedly dangerously optimistic. still. We will all survive!
  13. Hey! so it's all on this site: http://www.sph.emory.edu/careers/employment-status/index.html Click "Class of 2013" under the agreggate data section I originally typed this super long post with pictures and junk for you but it wouldn't allow me to post them here (boooo). ugh. What schools are you interested in?
