  1. Has funding worked out for you for the UK then? Also, you're going to have to an amazing time in the UK!!! Whichever university you decide on going to! I've done my undergrad and a one year masters here and I've loved it to bits!
  2. Congrats to the Rutgers and the University of South Carolina acceptances!!! And to anyone else who has received fabulous news recently!
  3. Thanks for this ProfLorax!
  4. Of course giving feedback to all applications is not a possible solution. However, while I must confess that I didn't ask for feedback after my first round and haven't asked any of my rejection unis this time either the general vibe I have received through the rejection letters is that feedback is not an option. A line hunting at the option, should one choose to take the initiative would go a long way though I understand why they're unwilling to encourage this
  5. I couldn't agree more... Feedback, even if it was just one line would be really helpful -from all the programmes -and could probably give the best idea about what is based on something wet can work on our sheer fit...
  6. Last time I heard anything was my rejection from Michigan Tuesday... Since then it has been deafening silence on all sides. I wish they'd just send those effing rejections already, all this waiting for implied rejections to turn real is really messing with my head
  7. I can't believe the good news doing the rounds just now!!! Harvard, Rutgers, Stanford.... You guys are killing it like nobody's business!!!! You're bloody amazing all of you!!!
  8. Thanks for starting this thread and for all the insightful posts. As an international applicant I'm not familiar with much of US education politics but since my only acceptance so far is from Madison and I've only been accepted with a 3 year funding package, though the DGS said most people were able to extend it, I suspect I may end up affected by things there... I think my greatest fear would be to accept the offer and then finding myself unable to complete due to lack of funds... And If things are really as grim as they sound it sounds like that could be a possibility.
  9. Congratulations on the great news everybody!!!
  10. Hey, sorry to pry, but any chance you've had any more news from Stanford? I've had nothing but radio silence from them but as there has been no acceptances or rejections from them yet on the board the darn bastards keep tugging at my hopestrings. It would be wonderful if I could put this baby to bed, even if it's bad news. Hope your interview went swimmingly!
  11. Congratulations on all the good news!
  12. You're kicking some serious ass with your acceptances SubmarineReflection Huge congrats! And also to HelloThisIsDog on your waitlisting, I'm rooting for you!
  13. Sending oodles and oodles and oodles of positive vibes! Knock them off their socks. Appppplication, it sounds like you have an exciting year ahead of you! This is amazing! quena, I'll keep my fingers crossed that Plan B comes together smoothly -and send positive vibes for Plan A too!
  14. Huge congrats to you both!!!!
  15. Yeah, I just received mine from U Mich
  16. Very wise words WT! I'm sorry about the publication rejection 1Q84! Tight hugs! There's nothing like rejections to make you doubt yourself and your work, but as everybody else have said, rejections don't say anything about your scholastic or personal abilities. I hope you allow yourself time to mourn with your tub of ice cream but don't leave the reader's notes in the drawer forever!
  17. I applied to ten and so far have only had decisions from two, and have had post application contact with a third. It's hard to say whether you should worry or not, there hasn't been an awful lot of information about Comp Lit acceptances this year so it's difficult to say whether the school simply hasn't sent out notifications yet or whether the admitted students simply aren't on GradCafe. Personally though,I'm currently writing off six of my programmes as implied rejections because the result board show at least one acceptance/show that people in previous years have been accepted in late Jan to early Feb. However, judging from the result board people are sometimes waitlisted a lot later in the season and sometimes get in, so it's difficult to say anything. Basically, maybe steel yourself against bad news but remember that there really is no saying. It's not over until you hear anything official from the universities and it is still early in the season. Anything can happen!
  18. Congratulations on all the awesome news people! You're killing it!
  19. Argh, I couldn't agree more! It messes with your emotions on such a level there are no words for it. I actually applied to NYU last time around as well and as I recall they didn't send out rejections until very late in March. I'm also guessing I have quite a few other implied rejections among my applications by now though at least some of them seem to have an occasional waitlist notification.
  20. Congratulations to all the lucky admits!
  21. I know, me too... It is quite literally soul-draining...
  22. Ditto on the implied rejections. When I applied first time a couple of years ago all my programmes had really late rejection times and though I saw other people getting accepted I stupidly allowed myself to hope after the initial bout of hopelessness. I'm trying to not be so cartels with my heart and frayed emotions this time around...
  23. Congratulations fancypants! This is amazing news! I'll keep my fingers crossed it'll develop into a real admittance!
  24. Sorry about the Use rejection Appppplication! But huge congratulations to you nuckearleaves! Iwontbelyeveit thanks for your optimism
