I also believe that the rep of your undergrad university does hold some weight. I had a professor basically tell me that because I go to a relatively unheard of state school, that I'd really need to stand out to even make it through the first round of cuts at some of the more prestigious programs. A friend of mine with lower GREs, GPA, and far less research experience went to Yale for his undergraduate degree and ended up with three interviews and an acceptance into three PhD programs for Clinical, one of which was Arizona State, because one of his letter writers was an ASU Psych PhD grad. This is all one big game, I am starting to realize.

I cried too, particularly on Friday when I found out on this forum that my to school, UC Irvine had already sent the interview invitations. I was useless for the whole day. Also, what I have been told is that I need more publications-2-3. And I get how you can't afford a master program- I can't either. But I'm glad that this is helping. If you need to chat, please feel free to private message me.

Trust that judgment because I think it would come off that way  You haven't completed the TA yet so it doesn't count and, even if it were done, TA experience doesn't really matter (unless maybe it's stats, because it shows you know stats)... honestly most profs don't care if you can TA and the most important TA skill is maintaining boundaries so it doesn't suck up all your time.

Personally, I feel like at this point in the game it wouldn't sway a decision. Plus, as you said, you haven't completed the position so it doesn't add any experience to your resume. But who knows? Worse case scenario is you tell them and it has no effect.  At this point I think most of us would make deals with voodoo priests if we thought it was even remotely possible of helping us get accepted.

Not sure it's *technically* community, but there's a pretty big emphasis on community psychology within the curriculum.. Applied to the PhD Psychology in the Public Interest at NC State, which you knew already, Journey!

Still impatiently awaiting a word of some kind.

I would totally be okay with even a rejection at this point from SOMEWHERE just so I can stop obsessively checking my application status and my emails. I think the problem is we are on a forum surrounded by clinical people who are interviewing now and have heard something. Seems like social psych takes their precious time...Maybe this whole thing is one giant test!! Darn psychologists....

Heard from SDN that one of my schools is done sending invites. I almost think I'd prefer rejections to this radio silence.

Well I spoke to one of my POIs at length last week over the phone. She did talk to me about how she trains people to teach in academia and to become researchers. I had no teaching on my CV but plenty of research. Maybe I should just send the update to her since I know she is at least some what interested in working with me?

I swear after this process I'm going to write the unspoken rules for applying to Psych PhD programs. So much uncertainty!

I got a 155 on the Quant. and I got an A+ in my statistics course....and I'm the stats TA now. Quite honestly, I don't feel that the quantitative section is full of math we need in graduate school. There is a section that is important, but it's only a small part of the whole. I wish they made the test more relevant to actual statistical analysis. My score was 60th percentile. I wish it were better and if I get rejected from all of the schools I applied to this time around, I do plan to study and retake the test. I do not think it is an accurate measure of what it needs to measure for our purposes. I think it is a generic measure because they can't make tests for each individual discipline. That's just my thoughts! If it makes you feel any better, a 155, according to the GRE makers, when compared with other students trying to go for psychology is actually in the 80th percentile. In my opinion, our scores should be compared with scores of those we are in competition with, not the scores of people trying to be engineers, chemists, English professors, or any other profession.

Anybody else temporarily wish they were going into clinical so they would have probably heard some results by now?

Hahaha. Have you met social psychologists?  I work in an interdisciplinary department, and I'm so not surprised that it's taking longer to hear from the Social folks.
