Someone posted a few pages back about having a withdraw option on his/her Duke page? What if you don't see one? Can anyone help clarify?
You're trapped, mate. It's the Durham life for you.

When does it become acceptable to contact a department directly and ask for a timeline on when decisions will be released?
April 15th.

Another troll posting Harvard Govt admits or is that legit?
Given that there are a fair number, they could well be legit.
If i haven't heard anything from ucla duke chicago and MIT yet it's a silent rejection right?
poliscigoat said MIT is still contacting people, so you're probably not SOL on that front yet.

If we want to get fancy, we can argue that forums are, to some extent, voluntary response samples, and will therefore exaggerate the voices of those with strong opinions. Given the described tone of psr (I've never been on it myself), it's probably a safe bet that people who are happy in their program wouldn't be comfortable on that site and wouldn't bother posting on it much (analogy: the comments section of Fox's website is likely not representative of the opinions of the American people as a whole).

Accepted at Princeton! Found out via email from the DGS.

Hi again, guys.
I wrote e-mail to Rochester, and Department Administrator told me that acceptances have been sent out and I have to wait to for notification. Maybe they will send more offers this week, but that is what I was told.
From what I heard, 23 students got in, and they're shooting for a class of about eight. Hopefully they'll let people know by the middle to end of March if there are more acceptances.

In at Rochester.
That said, I think I should take a break from these forums for a while. I'm genuinely happy for all of you, but I had a bit of a mental hiccup yesterday with the combination of WashU and the (expected) low funding at Wisconsin. I wish all of you the best of luck, and I hope to have more good news whenever I return. I'm also looking forward to meeting some of you at various accepted students weekends. May the odds be ever in your favor.

All quiet on the WashU front (for me, at least).
EDIT: jk, rejected.

Meanwhile wisconsin is purportedly 11k?!!!

A note on WUSTL: According to their website, admissions are sent out via mail. It's possible an unofficial email will go out as well, but you might be better served learning the postal workers' schedule instead of continually refreshing your inbox.

Congratulations AuldReekie! And everyone else who received acceptances.

Note that currently I am only in at Wisconsin and even for Wisconsin I am hesitant to attend - academia is just THAT competitive.
I know you've already gotten some grief for this statement, but Wisconsin has pretty decent placement. If you do well in grad school and are a good fit for a post-doc posting or even a faculty position at a decent to good school, you should be fine.
I'm also unsure why you would bother applying to a school if you aren't interested in attending.

Monday is unexpectedly quiet. No big action so far...
At least some of Penn State, UT-Austin, UNC, Purdue (congratulations to whoever got accepted), and Florida State. That's not too shabby for a Monday.

I've got as many as five schools sending out results this week. I'm not terribly worried, as I've already gotten in to some pretty great programs, but it's still nerve-wracking. Best of luck to everyone.

A very reliable source says Cal.

Maybe it's just my little pea brain, but is anyone else getting confused by the numerous conversations taking place simultaneously on this thread?

Divurgerian: what programs are you looking at/what are you looking to do?
I'm looking at quite a handful (you can see the list in my signature thingy). I'm hoping to do research in American politics, with a lot of quantitative influence. The extent to which I pursue methods will likely be dictated in large part by the ability to do so in addition to American politics.
Is anyone here finishing up their Bachelor's or Master's this semester?
I'm finishing up my Bachelor's this semester.

Speaking of which, are there ANY Quant-nerds on this board?
Yooooooo.

Hello, everyone. I'm applying to graduate schools this cycle and was wondering when you would advise letting recommenders know about admissions results. As they come in? In batches? In one lump at the end? And should one mention schools to which one was denied admission, or only those to which one was accepted or waitlisted? Thanks!
-
Has anyone else who's been recommended by Wisconsin gotten multiple emails from the department? It's very flattering, but slightly odd to me that I have.
Also, when would you advise letting/when are you going to let recommenders know about results? As they come in, or in batches?

Seems like relatively few people on the forum applied to Harvard govt. Am I wrong? Who else applied and what subfield?
I did, for American Politics.
Welcome to the 2014-15 Cycle

Plot twist: Each time someone calls Harvard, the announcement is pushed back a day.
