  1. Has anyone accepted an offer from U o Saskatchewan (social psychology)?
  2. The same thing happened to me. It appeared they've made a mistake in my rejection letter :/ So to cheer me up they sent out a corrected one next morning
  3. I got a reply from Brock; they will be notifying of the decisions next week. My POI wrote that I was not accepted; it was kind of him to take time on Saturday and let me know.
  4. I think the most rational thing to do is just wait... I understand that; but the uncertainty is so stressful >…< I am really trying to stop myself from accepting the offer prematurely I hope you'll get you 1st admission soon!
  5. Ok, so I am sick of waiting. I am thinking I will just accept the offer I already have. It is funded (covers 60% of tuition) . The POI is very interested in me and I like her research too. They offered me admission relatively quickly and I just feel like I am welcomed there. Unlike in other 4 schools that keep me waiting... maybe they are not that interested after all. What do you think? One of the schools suddenly felt theat my BS degree is no trustworthy, and that happened post-interview...Iwould expect them to check my undergraduate school before contacting me for an interview; now it is obvious they are just prejudiced against graduates from certain universities.
  6. I'll buy a new laptop and send gifts to my best friend and cousin, who are living far away from me.
  7. I just woke up, checked my e-mail right away, as I usually do now, and found out I was accepted to one and invited for an interview at another university! I couldn't even read the whole e-mail because of the excitement Felt like a Christmas morning
  8. I emailed the Faculty of Graduate Studies in February, and they wrote that we should expect to hear back 6~8 weeks after the application deadline. It has been almost 3 months since the deadline,so I emailed the Psychology Department today... let's see what they will answer...
  9. Why do you think you were rejected from Saskatchewan? I e-mailed grad assistant today about my application....
  10. Has anyone applied to/heard from Brock University? I'm getting so frustrated; I applied to some schools in August and still no answer!
  11. I think you still have a chance of getting into your dream school. But, at the same time, I think it is reasonable to accept another offer. One of the professors I know advised me not to be too picky about PhD programs; meaning that at this stage you are a mature adult who can create his/her own learning environment and take everything the program has to offer. So why would you think you'll be unhappy at another program? I think it's a matter of personal attitude... And what stops you from doing research together with this POI even if you are not at his/her program? You can meet at conferences and also it won't do any harm to menntion that you are ready to collaborate on their research in future, if there is a chance...
  12. Congratulations! I applied to social psychology stream at Alberta, but didn't hear anything since interview with POI in November. Do you know if anyone else got accepted?
  13. To the person who got accepted to Guelph today, what program did you apply to? edit: Oh , we posted at the same time. Congratulations!
  14. It sounds like an acceptance to me At least I wasn't rejected yet, hoping someone would like to talk about the program with me too!
  15. Thanks for answering! I thought they don't conduct interviews for this program... Who was your POI? Mine is Dr Chirkov.
  16. I applied to social there too. Could you share what you heard?
  17. just got it: "attached is the scan if your status letter from XXX" and there is no attachment
  18. Hi Suzanne, I had a similar feeling in the last year of my undergrad program, I had so many interests and it actually provoced more anxiety than gave comfort. I, too, wanted to apply for MSW, and lived with this idea until I took a class that showed me what I want to do in psychology. After that, it was really easy and exciting to think about future. I think you might have entered a masters program too early, maybe a gap year would have helped you. But since you are already there, I think it might be a good idea for you to take more classes than required and engage in new activities to find your place in the field. Once you have that fieling, everything will be different. One person cannot be good at everything, so imho even if your dream hospital where every patient has new problem came true, there would be 10 different psychologists in the room who each specialize on a certain type of problem.
  19. I think it's our right to email, because we pay the application fee. Most of the schools I've applied to have a policy to give answer 6~8weeks after the application deadline. I did email some of them and asked asked politely after 8 weeks. One school told me 3 weeks ago that they were going to have a meeting regarding my application the next day, so I've been literally loosing sleep since then. I decided to email them again yesterday, and, guess what, they didn't have a meeting yet...
  20. I guess it depends on the school, maybe some of them are actually that kind. Also I think that emailing POI might be more helpful, especially if you got in touch prior to applying
  21. maybe it was not a lie, but they just answer the same thing to everyone... In order for them to give you real reasons behind rejections, they would have to go back to your file and review it again(because they probably do not remember every application), which is time consuming. So I doubt they have actually done that. I think you verbal gre is pretty competitive, toefl is not bad either(but it's easier and better to retake it)
  22. Had my interview at Guelph today I hope I won't have to wait long to know the results... Can anyone share how long they've waited after the interview?
  23. What if I don't plan to be a counseling psychologist, does the accreditation of the program matter much then? E.g. if I graduate from a non-accredited masters program, will it damage my application for a PhD in future?(not clinical psych)
