  1. Thanks for the info...I applied to Steinhardt and I haven't heard anything from them or this forum about it. Regarding SFAI new genres, I think the program is great. The school seems very on point with the program (They claim they were the first New Genres in the country). Very nice staff, very beautiful campus, very personal program. considering I got into calarts, I probably will be going there but I had a hard time deciding between CCA and SFAI before I head from calarts...they are both great schools. I think SF is GREAT. did you get into anywhere else?

    $$$

simply put...never worry about the money. You will regret it! Go where you want to go and take on those loans...everyone is so scared of being in debt, its no big deal as long as you are ok with paying off the loans for a long time. People don't have patience and they get scared...this process is about your education and you. NOT about money. I know that money is an issue and sometimes a factor but if you are approved for the loans, take them, go make artwork, and pay them off. I might be faced with going to the school of my dreams this fall while being neck deep in debt or going to a good school with a free ride. As appealing as FREE is, it might not make me happy in the long run.
  3. does Skowhegan only accept people with MFAs? it seems like the case BUT without making it an official requirement. If I knew that ahead of time, I wouldn't have applied already. If I get a no from them, which seems to be the case...then I am totally going to the ACA...which I am very excited about it. how is the ACA structured? how is the day to day? meetings, studio time, etc??? Thanks for all of your responses. they have been very helpful!
  4. a lot of People have been mentioning NYU, are you referring to Steinhardt? or something else. I haven't heard from them yet. my list: Accepted: Calarts (fine arts) CCA (studio art, new Genres) SFAI (new Genres) Otis (Public Practice) Rejected: Hunter UCLA YALE No word: SVA NYU Steinhardt UCI (interviewed) Columbia
  5. I have to decide between SFAI and CCA too. I think I got into an LA school (still waiting for the official letter) and if I did, I will go there...but if I don't, I need to decide between one of those SF schools too. Pretty hard decision to decide between the two. are you having that same problem of indecision?
  6. applied to MFA studio art with emphasis in New Genres/combined media/etc...
  7. I got into CCA too and SFAI. I unofficially (through a casual email) found out that I was accepted to Calarts. I have not heard from UCLA yet either and I live in LA. Lots of people on the forums said they have been rejected but I have not heard a peep regarding interviews OR acceptances. Pretty much a mystery to me at this point.
  8. who did you email too? Taryn?
  9. I applied to the Fine Arts MFA...so that might be an entirely different situation and application process. Still very weird that they didn't interview. Super easy for you...so CONGRATS!
  10. That sounds like him for sure. and he is right...that program is great and all about the work and you.
  11. Thats really weird to hear from Charlie considering he is SUCH an intense person. Put the program at USC is great and they know what they are doing there.
  12. His work is great. He is an amazing professor too, very inspiring. seriously CRAZY, but amazing.
  13. Congrats! USC is amazing! I went there for undergrad and studied with Charlie White, Sharon Lockhart and all the greats there. It is an amazing school and it only got better since I left (which is slightly lame for me, haha). I HIGHLY recommend that you go there, you will not regret it.
  14. I am also waiting to hear back from HUNTER and Steinhardt...has anyone interviewed with them? I also applied to UCLA, what emphasis did you apply? painting?
  15. did you get into the MFA program at Otis in Studio Art or Public Practice?
  16. I haven't heard a peep either. I think this isn't a good sign, especially with all of the other posters getting interviews...
  17. Thanks littlenova! I have no idea what to expect and this will be my first real official residency. By the way, what are the Joan Mitchell awards? does that come with the financial package if and when you apply for it? Do they give you funding? I am not too crazy about spending the money flying out there and on the fees, materials etc (sounds really expensive)... I am hoping to hear back from Skowhegan, but I know my chances of getting into that program are slim.
  18. I received my Financial package for SFAI but nothing from CCA yet... does anyone know when calarts or UCI will make a decision? I interviewed with them and I haven't heard anything yet.
  19. Did you interview with SVA? I haven't heard anything...when did all of this happen for you?
  20. I just got into the residency program at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida. Does anyone have anything to say about the residencies there? I going into this rather blind. I don't know the reputation, what to expect, etc...
  21. Has anyone gotten an interview with UCLA? I have been hearing from the forum that some people have been rejected BUT what about anyone with an interview? I haven't heard anything. Also, I still haven't gotten any word from schools on the east coast: Columbia NYU (even though they just sent back my portfolio CD, which I take as a no) SVA HUNTER YALE (swift no back in Feb.) got into CCA and SFAI...I have no idea who to pick if I were to move to SF. anyone have any good concrete ideas on the differences between the programs?
