  1. I got 3 acceptances, only one is fully funded (tuition, health and good stipend). One was no funding whatsoever. One was partial funding ( in state tuition waiver and a low stipend that wouldn't even cover rent in that city). The fully funded offer is one year, but they said no one goes unfunded there because of the amount of TA positions available. So yeah it's pretty bad out there right now.
  2. Also waiting on Minnesota HSRPA, that emailed a while back saying they're waiting on a grant before they make decisions because they don't offer spots without funding. I'm not counting on hearing back before April 15th from them.
  3. What department at UNC? I know the department I'm in currently has offered funding to some of the PhD admitted students but not others and is still looking for funding for those students. Usually they'll guarantee first year and help you apply for grants the second year. But it really depends on the department. You should have some idea about funding from them by now to be honest. Also you'd know by now if you got funding from an award or something.
  4. I'm still waiting on Minnesota. They emailed me a while ago saying they are waiting to hear back regarding a grant before they make admission decisions. However they also said they won't know about the grant until closer to/after April 15th. So I'm not really taking them into account as I make my decision.
  5. I got rejected from Colorado last night. So devastated, it was top choice and the interview went so well. The chair even told me the drph program director was interested in my application. Pretty sad I didn't get in I got into a PhD program with good funding elsewhere and am deciding between taking that or reapplying next year.
  6. Have you received a funding offer yet? Also has the university officially sent you a letter yet? I got my department acceptance email around the same time as you.
  7. I got accepted via email. However it said that the university still had to make the final decision (department had already said yes). I still haven't heard from the university itself, hence no funding offer yet. I emailed to ask about it and they said there's been some sort of delay.
  8. Community and behavioral health, its the DrPH program. What program did you apply for?
  9. I heard back mid- February, you might want to call the department. The admitted students day just took place on Friday.
  10. I got interviewed for OSU mid-late Jan and got accepted first week of Feb. I interviewed for Colorado mid Feb but they said they wont be making decisions until late march/early April. Good luck!!
  11. I was interviewed for the Colorado DrPH CBH program around mid February. They said they wouldn't have an answer until late March/early April. I've gotten into 3 programs so far and this is my first choice so its kinda annoying having to wait so long to be honest.
  12. The MCH department has one started up for 2015 new students but I'm not sure if there is one for all new students. Would be good to have one though.
  13. I'm gonna apply in June just because I'll feel better knowing its sorted. Would have done it earlier but I have to renew my passport next month. Processing here only takes a day or two. 2-3 days max to get an appointment at the embassy once your form is filled and submitted, and you get the visa the day after the interview.
  14. Still waiting for mine too! There have been no updates on my application and its been almost a month since I accepted the offer and paid my deposit.
  15. Anyone started looking for housing yet? Or is it till too early to look?
  16. I am seriously considering it, just looking at what kind of funding they offer. I'm trying to decide between Columbia and UNC, so far UNC is winning. What program did you get in for? I got into the MPH program.
  17. @Femtastic Yes I got an email from them end of Jan asking me to come in for an interview early Feb, I asked them to do it via skype because flying in was going to be extremely costly. My interview was done via skype around mid Feb and I got interviewed by the chair of the MCH department. It wasn't as formal as I was expecting, it was quite laid back, mostly just checking to see how well I would fit into the program and if it suits my needs etc. Was about 20 mins long.
  18. I got into UNC Chapel Hill's MPH in MCH and into Columbia's MPH in Epi. Both schools cost approximately the same price, however cost of living is obviously higher in NY. I' m negotiating funding with both school so its more affordable to study there. My main decision factor however is based on program and school not cost. I just cannot figure out what school to pick. Both are great schools with great programs! I have 3+yrs experience in public health in east africa and so far 2 ASTMH presentations (one oral, one poster) and a manuscript (first author) I'm almost done drafting for Malaria journal. Most of my work so far has been concentrating on Malaria and I want to expand my skill set. I didnt have a science background and kinda stumbled into the field after undergrad so the MPH is really important to me to build a stronger science foundation. Any and all opinions on both schools are welcome. I have visited both campuses and liked both of them.
