is first week of august gud enough for reaching there and looking for houses?? I am an international student and can not move there any time sooner

so when are you guys moving to college station, cause I haven't found an apartment yet and was thinking of reaching there early august (my countries student association provides accomodation for s short period) and then look for housing myself....is that advisable?

Decided on Texas A&M for organometallic chemistry sent rejection to CU boulder today! hope someone out there gets a call from them

well i would like to explore the catalysis part..so some of my preferrences would be Bluemel, Hall, Ozerov, Darensbourg..but as i have not visited yet and have been strongly advised against emailing profs before you have actually met them...so i intend to meet these people when i start school....nice to know that u r interested in organometallic too...we should discuss stuff soon

I have some professors in mind...specially in the organometallic chem division. The tests they make us take are only to decide whether we are eligible to take grad level courses in those fields and doesnt matter if you fail them. it just means u wont be allowed to take a grad course in that

I am also going to chemistry department for a PhD!!

So who all here are going to come to Texas A&M then?

well I have full tuition+other fees waiver plus a monthly stipend...that should do it right?

Not too great GPA (2.92) But i think the positives that helped me get fully funded admits to 2 out of the 3 schools were: My GRE score quant:800 verbal 700 AW 4.0 My subj GRE score 820/1000 Great letters of recommendation from three professors I did projects with. All my projects were in the same area as I applied to...so that must have helped a lot

the offer letter should be evident for financial support right?

Well since I am moving from India...i was thinking that maybe for the first year or atleast the first semester, i will live in university housing and then look for off campus when i have a better idea of the city...is that advisable?? are the university apartments good?

the grad program at boulder is really gud if you are interested in BioChem. other sections are also above average....

Which department are you going to??? How did u find housing?? I am also going to send in my acceptance soon so any info will be really helpful.

Received an admit with funding ffrom TAMU today morning....yay!! still waiting for Cornell but dont think thats gonna happen...so mostly will be going to TAMU applied: UPenn, Cornell, TAMU, CU Boulder Accepted: CU Boulder, TAMU Rejected: UPenn Still waiting: Cornell

I have already got an acceptance from CU Boulder, but it is one of my safety schools and am waiting on my top two choices UPenn and Cornell and they seem to be taking forever to make a decision....Boulder wants me to visit their open house on march 12-13. I am so confused..should i mail UPenn and Cornell asking about the status??

Got an admit to PhD at CU Boulder, one of the profs in my list emailed me to inform me that my application has been accepted and that i will receive an official letter from the department soon. still waiting on UPenn Cornell Texas A&M

Thanx DrFaustu for ur help. Well i have earned the GPA of 2.92 in a school called Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Bombay, India. Dunno whether u know bt it or not...it was recently reported at par with UMich in engineering studies. One of my recommendation letters is from a professor who is very well known and was the editor of a well known internation journal for sometime.
