It turns out I did not get the Coverdell Fellowship. It seems like funding was cut, and they're reserving the few remaining fellowships for people in other disciplines (Public Policy and Political Science, I believe). It's really too bad.

Schools that accept for summer!
jgconforti replied to slptay's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
University of Missouri also begins in summer. -
I did my undergrad at UCLA, quite a few years ago now. When I was a student, I lived in the Palms area south of campus. Mentone is in the area. There are lots of apartment complexes, and rent is much more affordable than in Westwood. You'd have to check the Big Blue Bus schedule, but the number 12 bus used to run from Palms to campus. I took the bus daily. Have fun at UCLA. It's a beautiful place. I miss it.

Can I take post-bacc classes in different places??
jgconforti replied to CBG321's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I took my pre-reqs at two different universities. I was planning to just take them from one school, but the grad director at my top choice grad program recommended that I go to a second school for a couple classes that I'd be missing by following the one school's pre-req program. -
My understanding is the same as pfeifferl11's. At the University of Missouri, I'll earn an MHS since the program is housed under the School of Health Professionals. I don't believe the program is particularly medically focused.

I sold some of my post-bac textbooks and have kept some of them. I'd like to sell them all rather than move them to my grad program this summer, but I'll bring them with me if I'll need them. Any advice about whether or not I'll need my textbooks, or if my new books for my grad classes will suffice?

I've kept some of my books from my pre-requisite courses, but I'd rather sell them unless I really do need to bring them with me to grad school. Any suggestions about what books I might or will need? Or will my new texts for my grad courses suffice?

Declined my acceptance today. I hope this helps someone.

Textbooks - eBooks?, rental/sell back?, new/used?

As a follow-up question, are there any post-bac books that I should take with me to begin my grad program? Will I need them as references, or will the texts for my grad classes suffice? I'd prefer to sell the texts I currently own, but I'll certainly keep them if I will need them. -
I created a Facebook group for Mizzou's Class of 2017. It's a closed group, but just request to join. Here's the link: https://www.facebook...65606180218471/

I interviewed with Utah State University.

I just received an email with a GA offer from the department. Whew...relief! No word yet about the Peace Corps Coverdell Fellowship, but the departmental offer cements the decision. Off to Mizzou this June!!!

Coffee...ugh, even the smell...

I took an online Speech Science class through USU with Christopher Dromey last fall. I really enjoyed it. I think they might offer it over the summer, as well.

As a follow up, I just spoke with Bev in the Office of Graduate Studies. She told me that decisions about fellowships should be made early this week. That office will then contact the department who should notify us. Best of luck to all of us!

Hi all! I, too, received an offer. I applied for the Coverdell Fellowship for returned Peace Corps volunteers. The department recommended me, so hopefully I'll receive positive news this week. Fingers crossed. If I receive it, I'll accept the offer. I visited the campus this summer and met with Barbara McLay and Judith Goodman. Both were really nice and have been so helpful in helping me to navigate the fellowship application process. I'm hopeful that I'll be there in June.
