  3. @Kompetent did you hear back from Stanford for the POLS program? It seems that Stanford ICE and LDT acceptances have been sent out already.
  4. @teppeice were there any updates to your online portal? Congratulations on your acceptance!

  6. Hi...does anyone know how Stanford communicates its decisions - is it via email or phone calls?

    HGSE 2016

Sorry...maybe I am misunderstanding the point. But, if HGSE master program takes 650 students (say) in a batch, and the acceptance percentage is 50% (say), then one can work back the total number of applicants as 650 divided 50% = 1,300 applicants...isn't it?

US News publishes percentage acceptance for HGSE masters as a whole ...towards the end of the report (within the index for each program).

A credible source once told me that business schools, especially the top ones, use algorithms to score and select /eliminate at the first go ...and then human reviewers take over. These schools receive around 10,000 applications every year, and it is not possible for them to individually read each application, let alone rank them. The GPA, GRE (or GMAT) becomes part of the algorithm, and applicants are stratified into pools e.g. bankers, consultants, human resource backgrounds, etc. Of course, education schools (such as HGSE) or even Harvard University may operate differently.

Applying for Ed. M. Program: Special StudiesGRE Score: V 160, Q 167, AWA: 4.5 GPA: 3.9 (Masters degree in Finance - passed with top 10% GPA). Last University: Business school ranked amongst top 5 globally. Work Experience: NO experience in education. Currently: Partner in an boutique investment and advisory firm (outside of US). Total 15 years of experience by Aug 2016. Area of concern: Lack of experience in education. Of course, SOP explains rationale for wanting to pursue a masters degree in education at age of 40!! Has anyone heard of students being admitted to the Special Studies program without any experience in education?
  13. Hello people!! I am one of the geriatric applicants ...38 years old ...no background in education..nada... I am a partner in a boutique investment firm....planning to leave my current role and venture into setting up affordable schools in India / Middle East. Appeared for my GRE recently (man....that was something) V160 Q167 AWA 4.5 ....not super happy with the verbal score ...but hoping that it would suffice ...dread going in again for a retake!! Looking at two masters programs - POLS at Stanford and Special Studies at Harvard. Nice to meet you all.
