  1. @SeaLou for ucsd i think no news is probably good news since I too haven't seen any interviews or acceptances only rejections. For Iowa I've been rejected pretty consistently on 4/1 so I'm sure I have that to looks forward to in a couple of weeks. Good luck with everything!
  2. Thanks for the info on Indiana @SeaLou I have to admit that I applied not knowing much about the program. Peter said that he would be in touch with me for the next few weeks but that was about five weeks ago so not sure if that means a rejection is coming my way. In other news, I got two e-mails from different people at Hollins today asking me to submit and telling me that they will extend the deadline for me. So I think they are desperate for applicants, in case anyone is wishing they had applied for a low res program. Since all I've gotten so far are rejections, it's tempting for me to apply. But my work really gets busy in the summer so I don't think a low res program would allow me to keep my job which is it's whole appeal.
  3. I did talk to Peter. He said that I submitted my application before they changed the policy on the website so they are considering me this year. We'll see what happens. Also stupid autocorrect I meant to say Naomi izuka! Can't figure out how to edit the post on my phone
  4. @SeaLou I'm still waiting on Austin and brown though I know those are rejections. And I'm remaining cautiously hopeful about Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Brooklyn, and hunter. Fingers crossed that you get a phone call from Naomi izakaya soon!
  5. rejected from ucsd via e-mail. good luck to everyone still waiting to hear.
  6. i would tell David that you've been offered a spot at brown. You might be able to get a more generous offer from Columbia. Especially if you're leaning towards brown you really don't have anything to lose. Good luck and congratulations!
  7. AMAZING! Congrats @lrb0192 So so so happy for you!
  8. Gotcha. I really appreciate the update. I'm sorry it was a no for you but it sounds like they liked your work. Good luck with the apps you're still waiting on!
  9. Ok, wow so UCSD is notifying now. Thanks for the update @nelletankus
  10. Because of my job, this time of year I get lots of e-mails from schools inviting me to see showcases of students work and what not, which is cool. But every time I see Yale or UCSD or another school I applied to in my e-mail I have a mini heart attack. This can't be healthy. I hope we all hear back from everyone soon!
  11. Hi @Animal Liberator Most schools being talked about here only offer places to people they have interviewed, i.e. Yale, Columbia, NYU, Brown, UTA, etc. That being said as far as I know no one has heard a word from some schools: Brooklyn College, Hunter College, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana to name a few. Also feel free to correct me if I am wrong @greenchile but how I interpreted that post was that UCSD only told her about her application status because she reached out after having a michener acceptance. I don't think UCSD has started conducting interviews yet. So I wouldn't lose hope quite yet!
  12. Wow @lrb0192 Congrats on Brown! That's awesome! Thanks for the details about SAIC. I love the idea of their program. And Chicago might be my favorite city in the world, but I've never applied for funding reasons. Yeah I've heard the same thing about UCSD. I didn't think that it might affect how many applicants they accept. I feel like they have to accept someone or return everyone's application fees. Keep us updated on what happens with Brown!
  13. @Boseph16I haven't but last year I was rejected from Iowa on 4/1 so it may be a little while yet before we hear from them.
  14. Yale keeps your recs on file from year to year automatically. You'll have the option to reuse them when you fill out your app next year. They're actually one of the best schools for reapplying for that reason.
  15. @SeaLou when you first log in, it says "status update" and there is a link to click that says "view update". It's the page where you can see your application checklist.
  16. Also rejected from Yale via e-mail to check the portal. Good luck everyone still in the running!
  17. I got an e-mail to check the website for my Michener rejection. I also got a mystery missed call from Ohio this morning. I'm pretty sure it must have been a telemarketer because I think someone from the school would have left a message.
  18. Hey @andrea907 congrats! That's an exciting week you have ahead of you. Good luck and please let us know how it goes! @las242 (or anyone else applying to Hunter) do you remember how you uploaded your script to the application system? I am having the hardest time figuring out how/where to submit it. Am I missing something really obvious?
  19. Small update: I e-mailed with Peter and since I had applied it November, it was before they changed the application policy. So they are still reviewing my application. I think I will probably be rejected since they clearly have an idea in mind of who they will accept.
  20. This is my third try at Michener (a little embarrassing to admit) and I was rejected on 2/16 last year and 2/19 the year before that. So yeah, I guess I better brace myself for another rejection. Thanks for the heads up.
  21. Hey @SeaLou thanks for the advice! Do you know what genre the person who was contacted by Michener was in? Is it totally foolish to hope that maybe they haven't gotten to the playwriting applicants yet? Or that maybe they're contacting people in waves?
  22. Wow I feel like such an idiot having applied to Indiana. I totally didn't see that it's invite only. Wish I could get a refund on the fee and time I put into the application. Thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge on notifications. Didn't realize that schools have started contacting people so early in February (i.e. now!)
  23. Hi @las242 My list is very similar to yours. I'm applying to Yale, Brown, UT Austin, Michener, Iowa, Hunter, Ohio, Indiana, Brooklyn College, and UCSD Good luck! I've been through this rodeo a few times so don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
  24. @youngbandido It's hard to tell you which one to choose without reading your plays. There's just no way to tell which aesthetic will work the best because the plays are read by such different readers across schools and sometimes even within schools. You should send the play that you're the most confident in. The one that's the most polished, that's had the most opportunities, might be a good way to choose between two plays if you're just as confident in each. Out of curiosity which schools are you applying to?
  25. Same here.
