  1. The complaint was just from one professor. And no, I'm not Chinese. As I have mentioned before, the professor did not bring out evidence during the meeting of whatever sources she thinks I have copied from.
  2. Thanks everyone for not giving up on me. It just seems so very strange to me. The professor asked so many questions at the meeting, and I answered them to my best ability. After the meeting, the professor had about 5 days to decide. I then received an email from the academic integrity department that my professor officially decided that there is no academic misconduct. But now the prof is objecting again? The draft was not submitted as part of her course. It was submitted prior to the first assignment for her course. The draft was just an idea for next year (my program has an optional research project that each student can do). At the moment no documents have been signed since I still have to find my own supervisors and advisors to sign them. I am also not published, but have worked on assignments for various research courses in the past. Never had issues with those.
  3. Advice please - I emailed my professor to thank her for understanding about my draft, but her reply was: "I also want to talk to you about the draft you gave me for my course. The fact that I did not make a formal charge does not mean that I consider it your work. I am simply giving you another opportunity to show me what you can do on your own". What does this mean? I already attended a facilitated meeting with her, 3rd person, and my witness....and she had decided that there was no plagiarism.....but she still wants to talk? Btw, the draft was shown to her for next summer. It was not submitted as part of her course.
  4. I don't know if I should talk with the prof about this. Everything was properly cited. During our meeting, she could not point out plagiarism issues within what I wrote. When I got notice of the decision, there was not even a summary of what we've discussed.
  5. Update: No penalty! Please close this thread. Thanks everyone!
  6. I'm also confused myself I am just trying to explain what I've heard and seen, without any biases/assumptions about the other people. Anyways, thank you GeoDUDE and everyone for trying to help
  7. Just two are accusing me, which is weird because they could not provide evidence. Also, when I first showed draft to those two earlier this month, one of them delayed deciding to be my advisor. The other one asked me if it's funded (which is not because my idea hasn't even been out there). When I asked both for feedback (at separate times), one said "Im still reading" and the other said "no it's fine". I think it is an internal issue.
  8. I only showed the draft to 3 profs (my 2 potential advisors and the prof who is teaching research methods).
  9. No one could provide evidence during the meeting.
  10. One of the profs could not even provide evidence of plagarism. The prof is also not an expert in the area. I don't understand why they would accuse me when no official documentations to be my superviser(s) for next summer are signed.
  11. It is actually an idea for next summer, and I did mention all citations, etc. And the reasons i showed to those professors if because I would like to work with them.
  12. Hi everyone, thanks so much for your responses! In the paper I just mentioned that I will be using a prof's data tool (who has interest in being one of my supervisors). That was all. All other references were from lit articles and books. The paper was written in hopes that 2 profs can supervise me. It was just a basic draft in preparation for next summer. No profs signed any documents yet to be my supervisors. This paper had nothing to do with any of my courses. I started writing the draft in early September and was showing the draft to a couple of professors.
  13. Prof says Im using another prof's research ideas, but my paper hasn't even been conducted before......
  14. Omg, the professor could not provide any evidence. Has anyone experienced similar situation? Why would a professor suspect me without any evidence?
  15. I was looking over my classmates' assignments (they gave us handouts) and they have more "plagiarism" than myself. One of them has a page full of sentences straight from an assigned article, but she has not mentioned any trouble with the professor. Why would I be chosen for a meeting then?
