  1. Unfortunately, I think all of their invites have gone out. I'm going to the UCSD weekend and a friend who goes to my school was invited to UCLA. Best of luck with the rest of the application season!
  2. I'm not sure if social is the same way, but for affective science, individual PIs made the contact. For us, it was a two tiered process where people were short-listed and had Skype conversations with PIs and then a very small number were invited for in-person interviews from there. I got to Skype, but no on-site interview. Procedures may be different for social though.
  3. @Gradulate Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and good luck on all of your "apps"! I got an invite for a Berkeley Neuroscience interview. I'm interested in social, affective, and personality neuroscience... so I guess that counts as Social Psych, kinda. I applied to UCLA's social program too. Getting a big antsy about the interview invite (or rather the lack thereof) for that one.
  4. I have a friend going there! Im going to APS (hopefully) and Society for Affective Science (SAS). It's in Chicago too, in March.
  5. @artsy16 Social. I tried searching and didn't find anything.
  6. Got a Berkeley neuroscience interview invite! (: And I've had Skype interviews with people from Minnesota and Northeastern.
  7. Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone would like to review my personal statement for Fulbright and/or Churchill. I have some pretty "personal" things in the essays that are tied to research interests/motivation in psychology. Would anyone be willing to take a look to see if it is working and give advice?
  8. I did much better on real test. Probably partly becaue of mindset. Magoosh 1 - 158V, 158Q Power Prep 1 - 166V, 160Q Magoosh 2 - 162V, 158Q GRE - 168V, 166Q
  9. Just took the GRE and I got 168 on verbal and 166 on quant. Will these be competitive enough for top psychology programs? I prepped with Magoosh and was thinking about using Manhattan/Empower too, but then got the scores. Do you think it's worth retaking, or would my time be better spent working on other things?
  10. Hi. I'm an undergraduate (rising senior) who is highly considering applying to psych Ph.D. programs next cycle for social and affective neuroscience. I have identified several programs and mentors already and have a decent amount of research experience. However, I have been hearing conflicting messages from my mentors/advisers about whether I should apply now or wait. Some think I should go ahead and apply and others think I should try to do a post-bacc IRTA at NIH for a couple of years first, and then apply. I hope to eventually do research professionally (as a professor or research associate) and don't really have a strong opinion on whether I should wait for a couple of years or try to go straight into grad school. Would anyone be willing to look over my CV and grad school list and advise? If so, post/send me a message. Thanks!
