  1. Same with me here. I'm kind of preparing for a rejection now. Still, I want to know sooner than later, whatever it is. If they are calling the admits now, then they will probably put the rejections up on website today (hopefully) or next week (more likely). Good luck to us all!
  2. Then, I think it's strange that i got my letter via e-mail. Maybe it's because I live internationally and it will take a long time for the letter to arrive that they fear that it will miss the open house date.
  3. Congrats! CogEdPsych11! Are you going to the open house? @ FingersCrossedX I didn't have an interview
  4. I just received the acceptance letter in the e-mail. It was a big shock to me as I already made my peace that I didn't have a chance at this one. The letter dated Feb 18, 2011. There will be an open house on March 14. Good luck to everyone!

    East Lansing, MI

I hope there's someone who can still answer my questions about this city. I am serious considering attending MSU. I have been offered the fellowship+assistantship for about 16k if I work for 20 hours/wk (without the summer). Will that be enough to live? What is the cost of living in East Lansing? Please note that I am an international student so I won't be able to work more than 20 hours . I have lived in Cambridge, MA before. And I know that 16k is definitely not enough there. I need some advice from the local of I will be able to survive without taking out a loan. Thank you in advance for your advice.
  6. The waiting is killing me!

  7. Do you think HGSE will post the result today? Let's just hope they will!
  8. Waiting is tough. Although, I am pretty sure I will accept one of two offers I already got, it would be nice to know all the results to get it over with. Waiting really makes me anxious!
  9. Mine is still no change on the website.
  10. I haven't heard from them either.
  11. Good Luck with your application, too. And congratulations for acceptance. Love your profile pic (snoopy!)

  12. 2 more weeks, my fate will be revealed.

  13. t_ruth Posted 14 February 2010 - 05:46 AM Good luck to you Snoopy! I study something similar and you definitely missed some good schools that would have profs w/your interests... Would you mind telling me what they are? I didn't have time to research a lot of schools this year. The information would be really helpful if I have to apply again this year. By the way, what are your research interest?
  14. I don't think MBE is picky about students. They admit people from all sorts of background. If you can show them that you are really interested in MBE, then you have a good chance. We have a bunch of teachers in my cohorts, many of whom have taught for several years. Don't lose hope yet, and good luck! Tuft doesn't have PhD in education. I applied to Child Development, instead. They have research there that matches my interest.
  15. I applied to Educational Psychology too. My interest is adolescent development and career decision-making in adolescent. This year I applied to only 4 places that seem to match my interest; Ph.D. Child and Adolescent Development, Stanford Ph.D. Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development, University of Pennsylvania Ed.D. Human Development and Education, Harvard Ph.D. Child Development, Tuft My background B.Sc. (Medical Science), international (Asia) Ed.M. (Mind, Brain and Education) Harvard I have relatively low experience because of my age. I have been a full-time teacher for almost 2 years, and I have been doing research with a top university of my country. I am pretty nervous right now since I only applied to top schools. But my original intention was that I don't want to leave my country just to go to the program that I don't really want to be in. So if I don't get in this year, I will apply again in a year or two. ( I keep telling myself that, but I am still hoping that I would get in this year!)
  16. I am a HGSE alum, MBE and this year I am applying for Ed.D. MBE is a really good program and it's very different. I am sure it's very hard to find what they are teaching there some place else. Good Luck to all of us!

I try to be busy at work as much as possible. I'm a teacher and it's almost the end of the semester. I usually don't have much to prepare after handing in final exams, but I try to come up with new learning materials or lab activity. Just to keep myself busy and not checking e-mail every single minute. The hard part is that I feel anxious all the time, no matter how much I try to be relaxed. And I can't sleep well, either. I hope I will get some good news soon! Otherwise, I don't know I would be a walking zombie from lack of a good sleep.
