  1. OH MY GOD! YAY! I am so happy for you!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
  2. Haha no I'm good like that. I did manage to log on and no change. Ugh.
  3. @Pink Fuzzy Bunny tell me about it! Right now I just want to know.
  4. I can't log into the portal of my #1 choice school...does this mean after 5 months they might be changing a status???????
  5. MY MIND IS BLOWN!! I have only ever used a handle pump. I had no clue others existed!
  6. As long as your food isn't liquids you should be fine. I've never had a problem. Sheesh 35mins is cutting it fine - run like the wind girl!!!
  7. You'll be bored by the end of it!! Flying is a chore for me now. Headphones in, book out/papers to read, and normally have a nap. Oh and homemade snacks because airport food sucks.
  8. ahh thank you my old department loved my presentation style, my current one less so. Just got to adapt to fit their approach. It helps I know this topic inside out because it's my research area. Still got 17 days to practice. By the end of this month we should all know one way or the other whether anyone wants us and if so, where we're going! That's a crazy thought. I'm already getting withdrawal symptoms from this forum!!
  9. Agh @katpillow admissions season sucks. Sometimes I truly think departmental politics come into play and exceptional students don't have offers extended to them because of the faculty they would likely work with aren't "rated" highly. I know pretty much for a fact that's why I was rejected from the one place I've heard anything concrete from. It's easy to get bogged down into thinking about the future, but it may be a case that MSU comes through for you!! My fingers are crossed In happy news, I just made an awesome presentation on Prezi about my research and it looks pretty slick. Hoping it will impress the profs grading it as last time what I thought was a good presentation was not graded highly. Fingers crossed this time round. MUST. Speak. slowly. haha
  10. Good luck for the rest of your endeavours artsy16
  11. Very very true. Thank you for your kind words. I guess the bit that really gets me is we've been long distance (separate continents) for 4 of those 5 years and the distance was coming to an end!!! Oh well. You live and learn. Guess I dodged a bullet, although right now it doesn't feel it!
  12. Firefly is on my to watch list. SHIELD I love and am waiting for more seasons to arrive on Netflix.
  13. @FoxAndChicken yay someone else with non-free-reign parents! I watched Grease in the cinema but it totally shocked me haha. I remember when I first watched Dirty Dancing at 15, wow that blew my mind. I've tried to catch up with stuff as I got older. Funnily enough, no restrictions on books though. I grew up a total book nerd and still am!!
  14. I had a sheltered childhood, so I wasn't allowed to watch any fantasy/sci-fi/cartoons (except for scooby doo) or disney stuff. I've spent the best part of living away from home catching up on everything I should have seen growing up. Buffy is just one in a big pile of entertainment still to watch. I only saw the lion king last year. Tarzan last month. I LOVE TARZAN!!!
  15. In other news thank god for delivery! I was craving chicken satay and so 3 orders are on their way
  16. What did we do to deserve Buffy?? I'm at season 6 episode 4 right now. Season and a half left!!
  17. I'm still on Buffy. I'm not too sure what I'm going to do when Buffy is over!! Although big bang theory just hit UK netflix so that might be binged!!
  18. I'm prettty sure that you can get your nails done - a nice manicure, a massage, male face mask? I organise them for my dad all the time! More seriously, uhhh guys night? I'm not sure - other males on this forum want to suggest anything???
  19. katpillow, oh this sounds so similar. We were talking about marriage and where to have the honeymoon and all that. He couldn't deal with the distance. He wants us to reconnect later, but I know that's not going to happen, and for now he needs time to explore life. I guess life took us in a different directions. Bring on the new changes and excitement and busyness that grad school offers. @marycaryne thank you! You're so sweet My mum is actually bringing up my manatee tea infuser and all my loose leaf teas that I left at her house over xmas so I will have all my delicious tea again! I've decided to pamper myself tonight - hair, make up, nails, waxing, eyebrows, tan. Everything. If I feel like crap I sure as hell aren't going to look it!
  20. Haha I wish it fitted. No apparently I don't know my new size and the one I bought is too big!!! Ahhh. Go buy one! Seriously, go do it. The investment makes you feel so much better.
  21. Once again, I'm bowled over by the supportiveness on this forum - you guys are awesome! Katpillow, I'm sorry you had to go through this too. I think in my heart of hearts, it's the right choice and it certainly frees up options for PhDs and future moves. I'm telling myself I'm allowed til the end of tomorrow to feel really crappy, then onwards and upwards. Allow the emotions now so they don't sneak up and hit me around the head come dissertation defence time! gingin, how are you SO awesome ALL the time on these boards?! I'm definitely taking you up on tea and delicious pastries at some point! I went to classes and then went for a mosey around town earlier, but now it's dark and frozen outside so I'm tucked up in bed with netflix. But gym in the morning, and my mum's coming up (she lives a 3 hour drive away) and taking me out for food and shopping time. I wish I could take time with my work but unfortunately so many deadlines. The delights of a one year intensive masters. The thought of maybe moving to Florida (depending on funding) is fuelling me right now. Sunshine. Warmth. Cheap cost of living.
  22. Oh I like your thinking. I've got a focaccia down to a tee, so maybe I'll make it super thin and stick nutella on it... Thanks Neist!!!
  23. Hmmm trained pastry chef eh? Can you make gluten-free pastry?? Because I would love a pain au chocolat right about now!!!
  24. Thank you! Yep they suck but better now than when we'd moved in together. On a totally unrelated note, how much chocolate is acceptable to eat in a day? I'm verging on 4 creme eggs...
  25. Thanks, I do love tea! Glad I can help put shitty weeks in perspective And I didn't get the fellowship at the one school I've so far been accepted at so now I gotta wait to hear about TA funding. I just want to curl up under the duvet and not come out for a week.
