  1. Basically my situation right now. I can probably afford like at most one B+. I'm definitely taking fewer classes than I did previously though. I hear grad school is more fun anyways.
  2. Yeah I plan on talking to them once school starts and I get the syllabus. I'm actually more worried about falling behind due to missing classes rather than the actual attendance policy, but I guess I can only do my best and see what happens.
  3. I've seen you post about the BME/BioE dilemma, and tbh I think you'll be fine. Although it probably doesn't leave the best impression (if they even notice), I doubt it would be a deciding factor for admissions. If they really had to choose between two candidates, I'd think they would look at LORs, research experience, etc. before nitpicking about a few typos.
  4. I completely agree, biosci. Although you can argue that grades don't matter anymore and interviews/visits are more important, it would be a shame to lose your 4.0/summa/magna/etc. your last semester. Additionally, GPA will still be slightly relevant if you plan on applying for fellowships after you start grad school. I have 2 more required classes, so I'm just praying that attendance doesn't count and I'll be able to manage while missing half the lectures...
  5. Alright, I know this has been talked about before, but now with more interview invites coming out, is anyone one else becoming worried about missing too many classes? I know grades aren't really *that* critical anymore, but still...
  6. Has anyone else gotten an official interview invite that hasn't asked them to respond with whether or not you accept the invitation? They said details/travel arrangements will be sent in a separate email (didn't get it yet) and there is only one interview date. I guess it can't hurt for me to respond, just in case, right.
  7. Yes mine is on-campus. It's probably because you are international.
  8. I don't think it'd hurt you, but might just take a lot of time/effort. I'd think emails would be sufficient.
  9. For those who don't know, there is another thread for BME/BioE applicants in the Engineering forum: http://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/71701-phd-biomedicalbioengineeringee-fall-2016-profiles/ Maybe it would be nice to move over to that one, just so everything is in one place.
  10. A general trend I've been seeing is that interview invites are coming out later, in general and compared to last year, probably due to more and more applications. If other people haven't heard back yet, most likely they're just a bit slower this year.
  11. Congrats! Yeah the other thread is in the Applications forum. Maybe it could be moved/merged?
  12. Got it!!!! 3:11 EST, guess there's some delay. Side note: My interview date predictions were correct too
  13. Cool! Yeah, I saw. I've actually compiled a list of all the previous interview invite and interview visit dates for all my programs to predict this year's dates based on them...
  14. Did you send an email first? I didn't get any saying that. I
  15. Anyone else waiting on UCSF? They came out this week last year.
  16. There seems to be a decent number of people who have received invites, judging by the survey, so not sure if there will be that many spots left. However, their RSVP date is 3/4 so maybe there's more to come. I'd probably wait till the end of next week before assuming their done/call/etc.
  17. Out of curiosity, why do you think the same chance doesn't exist at IL schools to the same extent? I don't see why there would be a difference besides maybe fewer students competing for their time.
  18. For schools with interviews, I've been told that accepted candidates are selected from the pool of interviewed candidates. However, just because others have gotten invites, it doesn't mean that no more will be sent out. It could be worth sending an email to check if you know the deadline to respond to invites is coming up though.
  19. Even then, it's no reason to downvote legitimate comments. Anyways, we should all just move on.
