Have any of the Michigan State (MSU) waitlisters heard anything?

I was encouraged by that response, too! Perhaps they got feedback from past students? I don't think it's too early to start reaching out. I had a contact at the University of Michigan hospital that I had spoken to for an assignment at USU and I already reached out to her and then she put me in touch with the person in charge of that area. I'm basically just asking if it's something they would do or even consider, but that it's a ways off for now. -

I also heard from Dr. Neils-Strunjas today. She also confirmed that as long as you have your pre-requisites completed by the time classes start in the fall, it doesn't matter if your paperwork is received later than July 31. I specifically asked if they have had students in the past from my area (Michigan -- Metro Detroit/Ann Arbor), because I'm nervous about finding externships. Geographically, there should be a lot of opportunity in this area, but thought if they could give me reassurance that someone before me has done it, I would feel more confident. Her response: "We have had students complete externships in Michigan in the past. We never know for sure what we will have available in any one area; however, the externship coordinator works with you at the start of your program to begin to identify appropriate placements, which our team follows up on." Does that sound like they take more responsibility for finding them with/for you than what you expected? I don't know if I'm reading into it, but from stories I've heard before it sounded like the students were largely responsible for finding their own externships. This sounds like they may provide more assistance than I anticipated? -

Ah, ok. That's exactly what I did too and the result I had. No answer yet...really wanting to hear back before I turn down my other offer. -

Also, do you know who your email was forwarded to? I asked a few questions after receiving the acceptance email, and mine was also forwarded and I haven't heard back. -

Ah...I totally understand as my husband is a high school teacher! I'll send you a link to my profile. I don't know what comes next in the process...I emailed them some questions yesterday, but haven't heard back yet. I'm not comfortable declining other offers until I get answers to those questions. We have to commit to WKU within 10 days, right? -

I'm happy to set up a Facebook group. Do you want to IM me a link to your Facebook so I can add you to set it up? I, however, don't know how it should be set up...like, all WKU incoming grad students? Just distance? Just full-time? I may be overthinking this. -

I'm leaning toward it. I'm waitlisted at MSU, which would be high on my list, too. I just have to really look at the pros/cons of doing a distance program vs. a campus program. I'm a nontraditional student, so I feel like I will fit in better in an online program, and it would allow me to keep working until next summer. However, I'm nervous about finding my own clinical placements. I do think I'm going to decline my EMU acceptance, as their program is seven semesters which I just don't see working for me. So, at this point...yes, I'll accept WKU, but if I were to be accepted at MSU, I'd have some things to consider. If I come across any students who can share their experiences at WKU, I'll let you know! -

Congrats! I was accepted as well. Do you plan to attend? It looks like you have a few programs to choose from! I hope there are others on here who heard good news today, or will soon, too! -

Has anyone heard if notifications have been sent for the full-time distance program? -
I will let you know if they give me any helpful information! I am from Michigan. This is a career change for me, and I have two young kids and a husband with a full-time job, so I'm limited to schools within an hour commute and online programs. Best of luck to you!

I was waitlisted at Michigan State also. I emailed to see if they could provide any further information on the waitlist. I do have one acceptance (and I'm grateful for that), but would really prefer Michigan State over Eastern Michigan. Good luck to you on your interview!

What schools are you waiting to hear from?

I haven't heard anything either. Really crossing my fingers! -
Have any of you Michigan State applicants heard anything? I see a few acceptances from this past week and am getting nervous! I have no idea what their process is for notifying of decisions.

Anyone out there apply to Wayne State? I saw an acceptance pop up in results, but just the one...

I put it just on the portal and just skipped those sections on the application. I think it's fine, but am awaiting confirmation from the department. i have the email address of someone in the CSD department who works in admissions stuff, if you'd like it. She's new. Message me if you'd find it helpful.

Any programs recommended for me?
mrs_walker replied to Ejt5100's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Not to hijack this thread, but I would love to find out more about Grand Valley. I'm about 2 hours from there, so hadn't really considered it (as I can't relocate) but am intrigued by the shorter length of the program. It looks just more compressed than the other programs I'm looking at (E. Mich, Wayne State, Michigan State, WKU), so I'm curious about how many days of the week classes are spread over and how do-able the program is with other outside commitments (family, possible assistantship or part-time work)? When did you start and when do you anticipate being finished? I'm thinking I could commute that distance, but it would rely entirely on how much I would need to be on campus. I would love any insight! Thanks!
