I received a B and a B+ in the first semester of my master's program and am feeling very worried. I've heard that Bs in grad school are like Ds or Fs. Is this true? I will be meeting with my adviser after Winter Break to talk about this issue but was hoping to hear from students who may have been in similar situations. Please help - I'm really worried. Thank you.

Thank you. I'm beginning to feel as though I should've waited before applying to graduate school. I'm not sure of what I want anymore. The other area I'm interested in is teaching English as a foreign language so yes, different than research in psych but still academic. I have already looked into it and have spoken with some who are currently working in this area. I have some experience communicating with non-native English speakers in an academic setting and can definitely visualize myself doing something like this. I will keep looking into it before beginning my program this fall and figure out what I really want to do. Thanks again for sharing your story and for your help

Hello! I will be starting my graduate program in psychology this fall and am feeling very anxious about it. When I applied to programs, I was confident in my decision to attend grad school. However, I have recently found interest in an area unrelated to my program and am questioning my decision to attend grad school. Has anyone experienced this uncertainty before? Any advice or personal stories would be helpful. Thank you!

Yeah, I feel the same way. I have started practicing the interview but would just have to switch from focusing on the research of my first-choice adviser to my second or third. Thank you for your input and best of luck in this waiting process.

Hi. I recently followed up with a potential adviser regarding the possibility of an interview (we had discussed this possibility in previous emails). I was told that interviews for his lab have already taken place and students have been selected, however, other advisers are still selecting students. I am hopeful that I may get an interview but I need to be realistic as well. Do I have a chance at an interview at this point? Any experiences, advice, or information are appreciated!

Thank you. I contacted professors before applying as well. I've heard of professors contacting students after reviewing their applications if they're interested in working with them. I haven't heard anything from the schools I applied to so I'm getting a little anxious :/

Hi. Last semester I sent an email to a potential advisor while preparing my graduate school applications. I got a quick and positive response to my email stating that he'd look closely at my application in February and schedule an interview at that time. Hi. I am applying to graduate school and am worried about my 3.0 GPA. Do I have a chance at acceptance into an MA program? I have a pretty solid research background with two years as an RA and am currently working on an independent research project. Do graduate schools look at other areas of an application before making a decision? Please help!
