  1. Thanks for your input VentureIntoNothingness! Certainly going to move skills and tasks completed onto the resume
  2. Thank you so much Applicant 1746! This is very helpful
  3. Just looking for advice on how to talk about research assistant experience on the statement of intent. Do I just talk about what tasks I completed and the skills I gained as a result or should I also talk about the study's purpose and research question too and what I have learnt about the topic from working as a research assistant? Is it okay to talk about a study in detail if it is someone else's project and you're simply collecting data for it.
  4. As for experience, definitely look into counselling related volunteer and work experience (like crisis hotline or at abuse centers). Also work on boosting your GPA. Even though the minimum requirements are B+ or higher in last year, they usually accept someone with A or A-
  5. If they have said so, then yes they will just look at your last year's GPA
  6. Did you submit your documents many days before dec 15th? I wonder if that's the reason why mine hasn't changed to Under Review
  7. Mine still says 'Documents Received' :/ As for results, I hear they come out in mid-march to mid-april
  8. Prioritize based on where you are more likely to get in and attend Out of curiosity, which schools are you talking about?
  9. Hi all, I have seen this template being used in other forums to update and help others in the same boat, and to see how competitive the applicant pool is. Please feel free to share which programs you applied to, cGPA and sGPA, and which schools accept, reject or wait-list you. Good luck to all applicants! Applied: Invited for Interview: Accepted: Waitlisted: Rejected: cumGPA: subGPA: GRE scores: Experience: Perceived strength of statement of intent/interviews/references:
  10. not class presentations. I meant if you have presented research findings at conferences
  11. By major paper, do you mean publications/thesis/presentations? Then yes. If you mean class assignments, then no
  12. Yes you could do that. But I have talked to Angela regarding the thesis and she said you receive a letter to apply for a thesis AFTER you've been accepted in the program. So mention your interest in doing a thesis, but don't waste space talking about it in length
  13. For U of T, how do you relate research experience to social work? I mean considering how it is a non-thesis program
  14. I wouldn't recommend that. Instead talk about the relevant courses that you have taken in your SOP
  15. If you wish to pursue mental health, then you would probably like MEd more because its more focused on mental health and psychology. But honestly why not apply to both, if you can!
  16. I'd love to hear from previous applicants of that program too
