  1. I'll be applying this year again I think, though I haven't been super active with my art this year unfortunately. I'm probably going to be more low key this year. I'm getting the feeling that I need more time, and I should be applying to more residencies. If I do apply I wonder if I should apply to some of the same schools I did last year, or if I should try other places.
  2. Aw man, they do interviews? I haven't heard anything from them at all so I'm guessing that's another rejection for me.
  3. Just know you aren't alone with these feelings. I can really relate. All we can do is keep on going. There's so many people on this forum who applied for multiple years before getting in this year. We are learning from every application cycle and we will get it eventually if we preservere. At least, I hope so!
  4. That's something I've been thinking about. A couple of the schools I applied to aren't very well known for their MFA programs, and it makes me wonder, if I get accepted, would it be worth attending? What makes it "worth" it?
  5. It was easy for me to enter this with high hopes, but I'm coming to terms with having to wait. I think it'll be good in the long run. Now I'm thinking about going for residencies, but I don't know much about applying to those. Another intimidating thing!
  6. There's been a few of us who got rejections from UIowa for painting/drawing. Maybe no news is good news in your case!
  7. Yep, painting and drawing. I am pretty bummed about it. Starting to think I should start getting ready for next year.
  8. Just got a rejection email from University of Iowa.
  9. That is so weird.. why would they even have the option to apply for that program and then toss it later? What a waste of time and energy on your part
  10. Got a rejection email from University of Michigan
  11. You heard from Iowa! That's great! I am still waiting to hear from them. What kind of email was it?
  12. Almost got a heart attack when Georgia State emailed me... to tell me they are reviewing the application.
  13. I appreciate you taking the time to address us on that. It's true, I know logically that there are so many talented people applying to so few spots. I am just one of hundreds! Logically, I know its nothing to be taken personally if I don't get in. Emotionally however, I know I can't help but feel a bit down about it. All I can really do is work through these emotions and most importantly, don't give up, try again next year, work work work! That being said, in the mean time, there are three more schools to hear from!
  14. I know how you all feel. I was really hoping for uMich and OSU to pan out. Hopefully UIowa will come though ! I hope if it doesn't work out we will keep our chins up. I hope I don't get too discouraged.
  15. I haven't gotten an email from them either so I presume that's it for me! Congrats to those who have!
  16. Same here. This is my first year applying to MFA programs so I do not know what to expect. I can only guess how my work stacks up, and part of me doubts I will make it. I come from such a small unknown liberal arts college, have done no residencies, and my gallery representation is very modest. I'm happy with my work, but I wonder how relevant it is in the grand scheme of things. I hope I can take disappointment if it does happen. I hope I can keep my head up, and realize that if I don't get in, my applications can only improve because this is still a valuable learning experience in itself. I just have this horrible tendency to get my hopes up, I don't want to get crushed under any feelings that may crop up.
  17. If I don't get in this round, It'll be a pain to have to do all the application materials next year but... I am most not looking forward to bugging my professors each year, I feel bad, its work for them to have to write the letters. To anyone who has done this for multiple years, how to approach them again?
  18. Hey all, I am almost done with my applications and if feels GOOD to finally be closing in. This year I am applying to UofM, UI, MSU, OSU and GSU All seem to have good funding, though has anyone heard anything about Michigan State University? I'm focusing on a particular area of the country with these, with the exception of Georgia State, so MSU fell into this as a possibility. Its not super highly ranked in US news but that isnt a huge factor for me, just curious if anyone had experiences there or heard any horror stories.
