  1. So sorry to hear about your gram. Hope that you soon get some acceptances and other good things to lift your spirits.
  2. Yep, the results are barely trickling in today, but I see a second NEU interview on the board.
  3. AHHH! Since when does NEU hold interviews for Sociology?! I mean, CONGRATS!!! But the Harvard and NEU interviews are now making me very worried.
  4. Absolutely! Expecting that we'll see some Vandy acceptances this week.
  5. The earliest I'm expecting to hear from any of those I applied to is late next week- possibly Vandy and Northeastern. The others typically send admits during the second or third week of February. Think I'm actually worrying myself sick. I haven't been able to hold down food for almost two days- and I had my flu shot this season. Miserable with the anticipation of accepts/rejects.
  6. You're on the money. Called and was told that almost all applications are still under review. My cousin is an undergrad there, so I'm kind of hoping for an acceptance to be close to family.
  7. AHHH!!! I'm on a conference call, but giving them a ring immediately after!
  8. I'm worried that my Quant score will eliminate me, but trying to be optimistic. Both of us getting in would be awesome!
  9. If I don't get any acceptances, I'm asking you to proof my entire app next season!!!!
  10. Anyone have predictions for today? I'm expecting (hoping) we'll hear from Vandy and possibly Northeastern sometime next week. Of the schools that I've applied to, those tend to be the earliest deciders.
  11. Thanks! I'll be diligently posting accepts/rejects as I receive them. Assuming you're a fellow Bostonian?
  12. Aha! Here's my competition. Shucks, I was holding out hope that nobody applied to those programs and I'd get in easy-peasy. Way to destroy my dreams @ConsciousSteph!
  13. I can't wait to hear from Vandy...or any school for that matter.
  14. My Quant score is pathetic - haven't taken math in years and didn't take a prep course; also went into complete panic mode during the test. Unfortunately, Harvard appears to care a lot about GRE scores. Thanks for the vote of confidence, though! I think I'll pass out from shock if I get admitted.
  15. Welcome! Looks like we've applied to a couple of the same schools (Harvard and UMass). Boston is an amazing - albeit expensive city- to live in. Good luck with your admissions, and keep us posted!
  16. Some do, but none of the school's that I applied to have a precedent of doing so. I think most of the interviews for sosh programs are intended to help POI's gauge the language proficiency of international applicants.
  17. Can anyone claim the Harvard interview? Who's your POI? It's a stretch, but Harvard's my top choice, so feeling super antsy now. Especially considering that I haven't seen any interviews posted for the program in several seasons.
  18. Sorry, that's the worst! *cyber hug*. Hopefully, several acceptances and stellar funding packages are in the cards for you!
  19. I just realized today that I forgot to send my official GRE scores to my safety school. Called admissions and they said no decisions have been made for the program yet, so I submitted them today and am praying they'll still consider me. Feel like I shot myself in the foot! Anticipating rejections too, and hoping for a surprise or two.
  20. @Katastrophe What areas of research are you interested in? Recall your POIs for Harvard and UPenn? Congrats on Ohio and UMinn!
  21. Hmmm...Well, I'm an Americorps VISTA alum, have 13 years of professional experience, currently manage a statewide program for one of the world's largest non-profits, volunteer for three additional organizations, act as an advisor for a young professionals network, and am completing my Masters at the same time...maybe I actually have a shot in the dark of getting in, regardless of my shitty quant score. At least, I'm praying, crossing fingers, eyes and toes, and working all kinds juju in hopes of it. I work my ass off, but still find a few minutes to participate in small-talk and off-topic conversation. It helps to calm my nerves while waiting. Oh - BIG CONGRATS to whomever received admission to UCLA, today!!!!
  22. I've seen a few posters this season, who are applicants to top programs - myself included.
