  1. I got into Maryland!!!! So excited, but also terrified and sad that I'll have to resign from my job of 7 years, which I love. Change is good though. Good luck to everyone still waiting on admissions!
  2. Landed an interview with UMD - College Park. So glad to finally have a response from them!
  3. I'm dying to hear back from them! Saw some acceptances for the Rhetoric track a couple of weeks ago, but I applied to PR and am hoping to be accepted with Dr. Liu as POI. Considered emailing the graduate office, to check on status, but afraid to come across as a pest. Congrats on Bloomington!
  4. I applied to UM College Park, but haven’t heard anything yet. What track did you apply to and who did you list as POI?
  5. Palmer's Cocoa Butter is the best thing! I moved from Florida to Boston, and it has saved my skin from becoming a flaky/chapped mess when winter hits.
  6. Congrats to whomever got the UMD-College Park Rhetoric acceptance. I'm still holding my breath for word on the PR & Strategic Comms acceptances .
  7. Still not a peep from Maryland...I'm dying! Anyone else here apply for a spot in risk or health communications, there?
  8. Did anyone else apply to UMD- College Park? I saw that one individual posted to the results page that they were offered an interview. I'm curious about their background and qualifications - mostly because I'm nervous about my own chances *being honest*. I wasn't able to study for the GRE and had to rush to complete my application over a two week window - because I'd been in PR, helping with the hurricane response. UMD is the only school that I applied to, this year.
  9. I've already served in Americorps and have more than a decade of professional experience in the positions that I'm applying to, so I think I stand a good chance. Was already under consideration for placement in Jamaica, but the programs I want are in Eastern Europe, Asia, or the Pacific Islands - so I asked them to cancel my candidacy for Jamaica and refer my application to other placement officers. I'm also a sponsor for my local GLOW chapter. My local recruiter is pretty positive about my chances of being accepted.
  10. The commute coming over the Howard Franklin from St. Pete can be brutal during rush hours, plus you have to drive past the airport and there's always some kind of construction happening. Traffic can be a nightmare. You'd be better off staying in one of the apartment complexes near the campus. There are quite a few of them. Temple Terrace is the community that surrounds USF. New Tampa is on the boarder with Pasco County - trip can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes to get down Bruce B. Downs from there. Avalon Heights is literally across the street from Campus Center - it's your typical student apartment. You rent a room/bathroom and have shared kitchen and living room with 1-2 housemates. Last I saw the units there, they were pretty modern and nice. Eagles Point and Willow Brooke are also pretty decent and a short distance from campus. *Attended USF for my undergrad*
  11. I've been rejected everywhere except UMass so far - still waiting on a response from them. If I don't get in, applying to Peacecorps and get to start a brand new waiting game. YIPPEE!!
  12. Can anyone claim the Vandy acceptance? Were you one of those who were offered an interview?
  13. Rejected from Penn - this one was my dream program. :*( So far I'm 0-3, waiting on 5 more responses but no longer optimistic. Already saw posted acceptances for 3 of them. May have to reapply in the fall, and would probably be better off sticking with Communications studies, rather than trying to transfer to a new major.
