Keeping the foreign contingent up, I'll, in all likelihood, be at Leiden University in the Netherlands in September.

Let me try to decipher... I was so pissed off when I got the e-mail (not because I was rejected - I kinda got used to it and I was expecting it anyway), I came really close to replying. I got another e-mail on the very same day from Financial Aid Office, asking me to send additional documents. (I will send the documents, who knows maybe I will get some financial support - obviously admission and financial aid have no connection at all).
We are lazy, rude, and have no idea about information technologies. So here you go, we won't even write down your name.
We made you wait four months to make sure we have enough students. Now, as we do, we will let you know about the decision.
Well, we were going to tell you that this year we had the strongest pool, but we didn't want to make you feel even slightly better.
This part is just ridiculous.
USC made us wait for four months. They sent rejections two months after acceptances. Meanwhile, when people called, they didn't say anything about rejections.... Real classy, what can I say... Who knows, maybe I will get some financial aid at the end of the day. It looks like they are still reviewing my application

Because of the current fiscal crisis of the UC system, most departments are reluctant to promise aid. Nevertheless, there is a good chance you'll get funding. You should anticipate, however, that funding won't mitigate all financial obligations and you'll likely need to find supplemental aid, presumably from loans.

That makes sense. And you didn't even have to take a shot at JHU to get your point across! Thanks for the lesson - I'll pipe down.

Do you really think you're such an articulate writer that you have the right to criticize anyone else? No one envies or admires someone who puts others down. If you don't want to spend the rest of your life alone and bitter, I suggest you learn a little compassion for those you don't believe are on your "level."

I am very pleased to see that you've taken such an interest in me. However, I wouldn't confuse "vague scholarship" with borderline functional illiteracy, as you so eloquently have.

I'm not sure what to make of this coming from a JHU applicant, where vague and obscure scholarship is in great demand.

Forget grad school. If I were you I'd focus on my ability to write coherent English.

To be clear, most of the posters in this forum are related to PhD programs. You might want to check Grad Cafe's forum for professional programs.

i called alex venegas at USC on monday and asked him if they are sending out any more decisions. he replied "very shortly, possibly this week." let's keep fingers crossed.
also, does anyone have any info on JHU? there are some postings in the results page, most of which are theory subfields. i'm comparative and yet to hear anything from them.
