Some brave soul should call and ask when.....I read in one of the older forums that they gave a pretty specific answer "next two days" or something of the sort.

Seems to be that the maintenance alert we are on the lookout for typically goes up the day before results are released (Monday if results are posted Tuesday). This alert could be posted as last as 9pm on the day before announcements. It is usually a maintenance alert that lists the end time at being 3am or 5am. Additionally, I would say that we are in the home stretch given last year's awards and honorable mentions are no longer listed. That list tends to go down a week or two before announcements.

I don't trust random redditors, especially not ones that avoid answering questions, but comment on their downvotes. I think it'll be next week based on what I've read while creeping through threads from previous years (um, this is a judgement free zone, right?). There seems to be a pattern to the fastlane closures: one the weekend before announcements (sat-sun), followed by the previous year's list of awardees/HMs being unavailable, which seems to be where we're at now, and results the following week (closure announcement typically day of-sometimes late at night!)
Or maybe all of this waiting is finally getting to me and I am just losing my mind.

Got waitlisted for Michigan...very nice email. Makes it seem like the waitlist is short. Anybody who got accepted have info on funding yet? 

So, I didn't get accepted at Duke. In fact, I didn't apply to places in the top 15 because, having read all of the exaggerations on this board regarding the GRE, I didn't think that I'd have any shot whatsoever.
But, I did get into a top 20 (UT-Austin) and one the best programs in my subfield, Stony Brook, (both of which I applied to simply as "reach" programs--again, based on the misinformation spread on this site) which is known to be quite quantitative, with a Q score of ~150, so I'm really not that surprised that such a score could get an otherwise stellar candidate accepted at Duke.

I'm beginning to feel like Duke might not come out today.......

I suspect Duke will be out on Monday. Other than last year they have been fairly consistent with the 31st of January/1st February notices.
I also spoke to a PhD student close to the process at Vanderbilt, and seems as far as interviews we should know by the end of next week. I'm also thinking Berkeley will be next week as well.
So I suspect this time next week there will be a few broken hearts and some people over the moon.

I disagree with your definition of what is "easy". 90 hours of study is not that affordable to many many students. This is 90 hours on top of the regular courseload in a bachelor's degree---why should this be a necessary step in order to go to graduate school? Studies have shown (see this and references therein) that there are no correlations between GRE performance and other measures of graduate school success (whether it's grades, post-PhD placement, papers, etc.). Instead, there is strong correlation with gender and race. This is why I think we should "demonize" the GRE because by doing so and by putting pressure on our departments to do so, it is the way we can remove the GRE from the admissions process. 
I do agree with you that we do not want to be misleading though. Under-emphasizing the GRE could do more harm than good right now because you're right, many departments still use GRE scores as cutoffs despite ETS recommendations on their guide to interpreting their scores. So, we should make it clear the importance of the GRE. However, this doesn't mean we should refrain from demonizing it. And I definitely think we should not perpetuate the false statement that if you can't do well on the GRE, you can't do well in grad school. (or that there is something wrong with you if you can't achieve 330)

Yeah I think it wouldn't be a stretch to expect Duke tomorrow or Monday. They tend to release on the last day of January or first day of February. Last year a member of AdCom got injured and delayed the release a day or two. So I am hoping to hear from Duke. It is one of my top choices...if not my top.
 
I would also like to know if any rumors or news is out there about Berkeley. I'm working on finding out something in regards to Vanderbilt now.
